YIPPEE HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY HUSBAND AND BOYFRIEND INK!!!!!!
Another year spent of me loving this silly little skeleton guy that exists on the internet and my brain that makes people around me question my sanity!!! Honestly, i don't regret it one bit~
Here's a tiny doodle I drew for celebration~!
This is what reading manga does to my art style lmao-
Ahem- a lil Cringe-Emo-Lookin-Self-Indulgent-Emotionally-Vulnerable-Sappy art and personal stuff below the cut, uh.. also a bit of content warning, proceed only if you feel comfortable
Here's to another year with someone who quite literally brought colour to my life
Someone i could depend on, and be myself with
Someone who let me improve myself and my art
Someone who showed me I had potential, that it wasn't worth giving up
Someone i held onto when times were worst, when there was noone else to save me
Someone...who I loved more than myself. Who taught me to love myself too.
I am forever grateful for his existence. To others he might be just a character, just another drawing on a screen, but his existence has affected me alot. I can never feel the happiness i have gotten due to having him by my side, even if in imagination, from anything else.
He's who taught me true love. I would not be here without him.
Thank you, and Happy Birthday, my most beloved Ink âĄ

be still, my foolish heart [3] - jamie tartt x reader
pairing: jamie tartt x fem!reader
word count: 4.1k (we're getting into it folks)
series warnings:Â lots of language throughout, some allusions to smut but nothing explicit, a LOT of fucking fluff mostly ngl
a/n:Â you're still enjoying this?? you're a mad lot, you are. in all seriousness, i'm writing like i have a new lease on life so i'm really glad so many of you are liking this as much as i am. jamie is really torn, the poor boy, but i've got 12 chapters planned in total so strap yourselves in for a slow(ish) burn <3 <3 <3
series summary:Â when jamie gets called up to the england team for the first time, heâs terrified. enter you, all smiles and swearing, and suddenly his only fear is falling head over boots for you.
previous chapter | series masterlist | next chapter
---
chapter three - if i could hold you for a minute
âThatâs a wrap, thanks boys, you were both great.â
Jamie nodded his thanks, giving his mate Rife a pat on the back that seemed to pass as a hug around here. Rife was quick to run off to the pitch behind them, getting back in on the passing drills, but Jamie hung back. Of course he did. He always fucking did, and he was getting quick sick of himself.
In the last week of being at England camp, heâd taken part in around 10 PR opportunities, all of which were open to volunteers, none of which he was obligated to do. But there were so few of them willing to take part and the smile on your face every time he hesitantly stuck his hand in the air was worth whatever embarrassment you might put him through. And, most of the time, you werenât big on embarrassing PR moments. Mostly wholesome conversations with the team and stupid challenges that heâd found himself quite competitive with. When he won the competition to roll the 10p coin into a fork yesterday, he was buzzing.
The spelling bee had not been his finest moment, but youâd been very reassuring that people loved someone relatable, and what was more relatable than not being able to spell âmediterraneanâ?
Youâd only been able to reassure him as such because he made a habit of sticking around afterwards. Asking if you needed any help taking down the camera equipment, because Tiff still hadnât come back to work but youâd kicked Brian to the curb days ago. Now you seemed to be doing it all by yourself, and sometimes the way you rushed around made Jamieâs chest ache.
âHey,â he said softly, gently touching you on the shoulder to get your attention. You turned from the equipment you were taking apart and boxing up, your whole expression changing for the better when you saw who was disturbing you, âCan I get that one?â
He points a thumb over his shoulder at the other camera and is rewarded for his kindness when he sees you physically sag with relief.
âLifesaver, you are. Thank you, Jamie.â
You didnât call him Just Jamie anymore. He missed it at first, the silly nicknames that had made you feel like fast friends, but then heâd realised that the way you said his actual name, soft and thankful a lot of the time, was better than any stupid nickname he could come up with.
âNah, youâre good.â
He gets busy putting the camera away, following your lead as inconspicuously as possible by glancing over at your handiwork when heâs not sure where to put something. When youâre finished, heâs almost done. You come over to take the heavy case from him and he holds it out of your armâs reach.
âAs if. Lead the way, boss.â
You roll your eyes good-naturedly at him, then protest when he also snatches the box youâre carrying from you with his free hand. He tries to convince you to let him carry the third, tiny microphone box over his shoulder too, but you simply flip him the bird and lead the way to your office.
Heâd carry you there, if youâd let him, because he knows the walk of a woman whose feet are hurting in her heels - Rebecca had taught him the signs. You were walking solely on the balls of your feet, trying to keep a normal rhythm but failing.
âYou think Gareth will tell me off when he realises Iâm using one of his star players to carry my shit around the place?â
He wants to argue that heâs not one of the star players around here, but heâs already learnt where self-deprecation gets him with you - an argument. Instead, he basks in the glow of the compliment inwardly as you open the door to your office and usher him in.
âI think heâll wonder why the fuck nobodyâs been hired to help yâ out,â Jamie says, then sees the determination in your face and course corrects, âNot that you canât do anythinâ you set yâ mind to, of course. Sorry. Just hate seeing yâ rush about the place with your feet on fuckinâ fire.â
Thereâs definitely a visible wince on his face when heâs put the equipment down on the right shelves and turns to find you staring at him in disbelief.
âHow do you know my feet hurt?â
âDonât worry, I donât think just anyone would notice,â heâs quick to reassure you, then hopes that doesnât sound like heâs only one who notices anything about you, âItâs just that one of my mates taught me to notice when someoneâs struggling on heels. Can offer her me arm then, like.â
âHm.â
You look thoughtful, but heâs already put his foot in his mouth enough for one day. He canât seem to stop when youâre around. Yesterday, heâd tried to ask you about your day but all heâd said was the word âday?â as a question. He was still getting over that one.
Deliberately not flirting with you was getting harder and harder every time you fucking smiled at him.
âAnyway, youâre steering me off topic. I hope Tiffâs back soon,â he says sincerely, hovering by the door. Already, he feels heâs outstayed his welcome, cluttering up the place, âAnâ if thereâs anythinâ I can do until sheâs back, thenâŠâ
Just let me know? Shout and Iâll come running? Let me convince Gareth to give you a day off so you can relax?
He doesnât know what his intended end of the sentence was, but you nod like he finished it anyway. Youâre looking at him pensively, not saying goodbye yet. Eventually, after a few moments of what looked like an internal debate, you flop into your office chair and stare up at him ruefully as you kick your shoes off.
âIâm so thoroughly fucked Jamie, you have no idea.â
Thereâs a thought in the back of his head that heâs supposed to be training right now, but he doesnât even think about leaving. He wonât be able to stay long, but heâll be damned if he leaves you when youâre pouting like that. He kicks the door closed and walks closer to your desk.
âCanât be that bad,â he says, hoping its soothing not patronising, âTed always says something likeâŠa problem halved is a problem shared or somethinâ. Lay it on me.â
Again, youâre looking at him pensively. Heâs not sure he likes you studying him so closely, like youâre searching for something. He gives you a shrug and a smile.
âOkay, but Iâm only taking two minutes of your time, I promise,â you sigh, âReally shouldnât keep you from training with the fucking England squad for this.â
Itâs the first sign of self-deprecation heâs ever seen from you. He hates it with a passion. Briefly, he wonders if this is what you feel like when he does it, if thatâs why you always argue against him. Maybe if he plays this right, he can leave this conversation safe in the knowledge that the two of you have become proper friends.
âOi. None of that, alright? If Iâm not allowed, youâre fuckinâ not either,â he insists, firm as he catches your eye. You look surprised, but you nod with a small smile that heâs over the moon to see, âGood. Right. Letâs problem halve then.â
Thereâs a laugh on your lips that youâre keeping in and he definitely hasnât used that expression right, he knows. Maybe part of him likes that, though, because he likes the amusement thatâs creeping through the exhaustion that radiates from you.
âGarethâs asked for Saturday to be âteam bondingâ. Something fun but also compelling, you know, pictures to get the public on side. Iâm drawing a fucking blank, because I normally bounce stuff off Tiff, but now all Iâve got is a big empty office and no ideas.â
It all comes out of you in a rush. A totally new side of you he hadnât expected to be let in on when he offered to help with the equipment, but somehow it felt like a privilege. Youâd spoken every day for a week, yes, but just small talk, stupid talk that he often walked away from annoyed with himself. Still, he couldnât have been doing too badly at trying to be your friend if you were willing to open up like this, and the thought made him proud.
Jamie still didnât think he was very good at making friends. Maybe he could go home with a new one (if he could make himself forget how pretty you really were).
âYâ literally couldnât have asked a better person for this,â Jamie grinned, trying to alleviate some of the stress that had collected between your eyebrows, âAnswerâs staring you in the face, you know?â
You glared at him. Okay, not the right thing to say. He hoped youâd forgive him when he pointed behind you and you turned. The back wall of your office was entirely made of glass, a window that overlooked the huge indoor swimming pool that the training complex housed. When you turned back to Jamie, you just looked confused.
âThe pool?â
âNot just the pool. Pool party. Footballers go fuckinâ crazy for âem, trust me. Yâ canât lose, cause youâll get a load of pictures of us lookinâ relaxed anâ fun anâ shit. Never know, some people might enjoy the fact weâll be half naked. Win-win.â
You nodded slowly, still thinking. The furrow in your brow was lifting. Jamie wanted to high five himself far too enthusiastically.
âIâm not one to exploit you lot for your looksâŠâ you begin, and yeah, Jamie knows he maybe shouldnât have added that bit. Maybe that part of him he was trying to bury wanted to fluster you, âBut the rest of what you said was good. Really good.â
âIt was?â
âDonât sound so shocked, Jamie! Thought you footballers were meant to have massive egos, huh?â
He knows youâre kidding around, but even the insinuation that he didnât have a massive ego would have made almost everyone back home laugh. A lot. He liked glimpses into what you thought of him.
âYeah, well, Iâm hidinâ it under me hat,â he joked, a shit joke that you still laughed at, âIf you get us some of those floaty things too, the ones kids have at their birthdays? Fuck, do you think we could get an obstacle course?â
He hears how childish it is when he says it, feels the pink blooming across his cheeks. Heâs expecting a response that heâd usually get, something kind but placating. Instead you jump up and round the desk, giddy.
âYes! The ones with a slide at the end, youâre a genius! Thank you so much, I really mean it, Iâm going to go and run it by Gareth right now,â youâre already grabbing a notebook and pen, your diary, ready to rush out of the door. He might not have found a solution so quickly if heâd known it would cut your conversation short.
âMight want your shoes, love.â
That nickname just tumbles out of him. Now his face feels like itâs gone up in flames. You donât react, not that he can see with you rushing back to put your shoes on with a muffled thanks spoken under the desk. Youâre rushing out of the door when you shout back to him.
âFind me later and Iâll sneak you an ice cream!â
He chuckles, left alone in your office. It takes him a few moments, but when he catches himself stood there grinning to himself, heâs quick to jog out and in the direction of the pitch. Thereâs nothing like penalty practice to take his mind off the butterflies in his stomach.
---
You were true to your word. Even though you hadnât been able to source him any ice cream later that day, much to your own annoyance however many times he told you it was fine, youâd found him in the hotel first thing Saturday morning with a Mr Whippy.
âI snuck out to an ice cream truck to finally keep my promise,â and you look so excited, that Jamie eats his Mr Whippy at 8am in the morning and enjoys it immensely. He begins to ask what ice cream trucks nearby are operating at 8am, but you shut him down immediately.
âI think youâll really enjoy the pool party later,â you say once youâve both finished your ice creams, because of course you got one for yourself too. Watching you eat your ice cream so quickly made him wonder if your promise had been for him or for yourself, âPulled out all the stops. Gareth was thrilled with the idea.â
âYeah, he pulled me aside yesterday about it. Yâ didnât have to give me any credit, yâ know?â
âUh, yes I did. It was your idea, idiot.â
It hadnât even crossed his mind at the time that you might tell anyone heâd thought of it. Gareth had been really nice about it yesterday, said something about leadership qualities that Jamie wishes Roy had been around to hear.
You rushed off again after that, but he was pleased to notice as you speed-walked away that you were wearing flats today.Â
Jamie spent the rest of the morning with some of the lads heâd gotten on with best so far. Even though heâd sorted things with the City boys and spoke to them often, he was surprised to find that the ones heâd become closest to were the others from the smaller clubs in the league, lads whoâd also come to camp on their own without any club teammates. Rife was one of them, even though he was West Ham, along with Pattinson, or Patty, and Gondo. The four of them would sit in Rifeâs room, cause it was biggest, and just piss about really. Patty had ended up flooding the bathroom once.
After a morning spent playing Mario Kart on Gondoâs switch, which Jamie was fucking great at, even if he said so himself, the four of them made their way out of the hotel and walked over to the training complex.
âI heard itâs a pool party,â Patty said, eyes lighting up, âHope so. Fucking class idea, that.â
Jamie could feel himself talking before he registered it.
âYou know Y/N? Think sheâs the one who planned the whole thing,â he supplies, watching as the three boys nod appreciatively. He hopes at least one of them will thank you for your hard work at some point during the afternoon. Rife gives him a funny look as they enter the pool, but Jamie takes no notice.
Theyâd clearly gotten carried away with their Grand Prix, because everything was in full swing by the time theyâd gotten changed and entered the pool area. There were unicorn rubber rings that some of the boys were jumping into the water with, a huge obstacle course over to the left that people were racing on, both the team and some of the backroom staff were joining in. Jamie was amazed youâd been able to put all this together in just a few days and he was proud of himself too, for the idea. It was something he thought he might text his mum about later, so she could be proud of him too.
It didnât take him long to spot you, likely because he was actively looking for you. You were stood by yourself over by the inflatable obstacle course, holding something on the wall, but watching the scene in front of you with a bright smile. Rife nudged him in the back of the shoulder and looked over at you.
âFuck off,â Jamie mumbled, but he was walking over to you anyway and he knew Rife was decent enough not to say anything to the other lads and turn it into a whole thing. It wasnât a thing anyway. He was just trying to do the right thing, like he always was nowadays, by going over to thank you for putting on such a fun time for everyone.
âPool party, eh? Musta taken some kind of hotshot genius to come up with that one,â he says as he comes to a stop next to you against the wall. You screw your eyes shut like youâre thinking.
âThink it was just a run of the mill genius, if I remember,â you tease, and your bright smile is always blinding but he canât help but wish it was only ever directed at him, âA run of the mill genius who is late, I might add.â
âAh, you know it takes a lot of effort to look this good,â he says, gesturing down at his bare chest and black swim trunks. He hopes, because you didnât know him during his prick days, that you know he isnât being serious as he would have been a few years ago. Thereâs still a tiny whoosh of his heartbeat in his ears when your eyes travel down his body and back up again.
âI can only imagine,â you say, a blatant lie when you look as good as you do in your wrap dress, Richmond red this time. Heâd think you were doing it on purpose if that wasnât outlandish, âNow, go on, go and enjoy it! Weâve only got the obstacle course for three hours and no oneâs been able to pry King away from it.â
Sure enough, when Jamie glances over, King is pulling Gondo over to race him because âno oneâs ever gonna beat my recordâ. Even though thatâs his cue to stop spending his team bonding time chatting to you, he canât help but let his eyes drift to the air hose that youâre holding against the wall.
âIs ya arm not crampinâ?â
You try and angle your body so he canât see your arm.
âAll good!â
âExcuse me language, but what the fuck are you holdinâ?â
Your sigh comes out frustrated and you relent as you turn and switch arms, shaking out the other one vigorously.
âItâs the air pipe or whatever you call it. For the inflatable. It has to go through this window to the pump on the other side at this exact fucking angle otherwise it doesnât stay inflated. Found someone with a cheaper rate and this is what I get, the little fucker.â
He has to really fight not to chuckle when you spit out the last bit, because youâre clearly enraged about this very fun pool party. However funny he finds it, however, he can tell that you wonât take any jokes well, so instead he holds up a single finger and legs it out of the pool area.
Itâs only a short jog down to the dressing room, where he finds a roll of duct tape in the first locker he checks. Footballers have all sorts of uses for the stuff. He practically sprints back to you with it in his hand and the prospect of solving an issue for you has him floating through the corridors.
He enters the pool area again and knows that heâs bounding over to you like an excitable puppy.
âHold still, yeah?â he says, more out of breath than heâd hoped, but youâre staying still because you look a stunned by his sudden exit and return. He takes the opportunity to start wrapping the duct tape around the pipe, securing it to the wall with a few small pieces, then strengthening it with a longer ones. He takes one glance at your face, far closer to his than its ever been before, and decides he shouldnât look at you.
Not with your parted lips and sparkly eyes and-
âRight, try takinâ your hand away, if ya would?â
You do so slowly, but the pipe holds in place, same angle, the obstacle course finally self-sufficient. The sound you let out can only be described as a squeal of glee, hands clasped in front of your beaming face.
âRunning out of adjectives for you, Jamie Tartt,â you say happily, reaching out to push him in what he assumes is an affectionate gesture. Heâs consumed by the sparks that follow your touch, so much so that he doesnât correct his balance in time, and the floor around the pool is wet. A startled yelp leaves him as he falls backwards into the pool, arms flailing in what he assumes is not a sexy way.
He sees you with your arms stretched out, reaching out for him with your face an absolute picture, when he surfaces, running a hand through his hair as he gasps. When he looks around, most of the team is laughing and he joins in, shaking his head at some of them who are pointing.
âHope one of you fuckers got that on camera,â he calls out to the other side of the pool and he gets a thumbs up along with more laughs from his teammates. He turns back to you as all the laughter dies down, sees you sporting a look thatâs 50% guilt and 50% amusement.
âIâm so sorry, Jamie,â you breathe out, but itâs followed by an immediate giggle that you try to cover up. If you were in a swimsuit, or a bikini, god forbid because he might actually lose it, heâd pull you right in after him. As it is, he just tamely splashes your ankles.
âIâll getcha for that. Anâ after I just helped you, too.â
You grin.
âIâll make it up to you. Right now actually,â he sees a new mischief on your face that scares him, âHey! Make sure you donât get this one, alright? I fucking mean it!â
The cameraman youâre gesturing to nods and looks scared, pressing buttons on his camera. Jamieâs still looking up at you from his spot treading water in the pool, a mixture of anticipation and pure fucking awe on his face.
âItâs a pool party, right?â you grin, then jump into the pool next to him, still in your dress. The whole place cheers as you come up to the surface, laughing and flicking your hair out of your face.Â
Jamie feels like all his breath has been stolen from him as he watches you try to keep the skirt of your dress from floating upwards too much. Heâs totally transfixed. Canât believe his luck when youâre looking at him again. âWeâre even?â
He canât find words, so he just nods. You swim closer to him, taking a glance on your way, at everyone else presumably to check the attention had turned elsewhere. When youâre sure it has, you whisper to him.
âI know all youâve done since getting here is be my personal knight in shining armour, but could I ask one more favour?â
Again, no words. He wants to reach out and curl his finger into one of your wet strands of hair. Wants to dunk you under the water. Wants to kiss the living daylights out of you.
Oh fuck. He just nods again, dumbstruck
âThink you could give me a boost? I didnât think about getting out of this pool gracefully.â
You gesture to the side of the pool. Jamie wonders if heâd died on the way over to the complex earlier and now he was in heaven.
âUh, yeah. If youâre sure?â
âPlease,â you confirm, swimming over to the side and he follows, just like he always does, watching as you brace your arms against the side. He gulps as he places two tentative hands around your waist, then tightens his grip as he pushes you upwards until you can turn and sit on the side of the pool. The hem of your dress brushes his chest in the process and he almost swallows some of the pool water.
Once youâre sat on the edge, feet dangling, heâs just a few inches away from being able to rest his head on your knees as he stares up at you. He feels like his heart is running away from him. You lean down to thank him softly before you stand up, wringing the water out of your dress as you strike up a conversation with one of the coaches on the sidelines about your recklessness.
Those fucking butterflies are fluttering up a storm in Jamieâs stomach, crowding his chest, getting in his head. Yeah, heâs found you attractive from day one, wanted to be your friend from day two. Now heâs that stupid word that Colin always uses to describe Dani when he has a new girl, but he just canât remember it.
It comes to him when heâs staring at his bedroom ceiling late at night, thinking until he makes his head hurt. Smitten. Heâs fucking smitten.

Part 3
this chapter contains some nutition science but I had to change the facts and imagine a fictional carbohydrate (shugar) in order to make sense for the Na'vi biology and the plat of the story. I hope you don't mind.
...
Mo'ats condotion didn't change. Se had a fever and hallucinated. Spider and the Sully kids gave us news whenever her condition changed. Many more humans and Na'vi got infected but at least Norm and I knew what made them sick.
The antibiotics didn't help much, so we were forced to increase our researchers. Norm found out, that the gene of the virus mutated to fit the Na'vi biology perfectly. So that it could invade their bodies and multiply more quickly, which to made them sick.
The defence cells of the body needed special receptors to fight off the virus. Those receptors were made of glycoproteins, which the Na'vi didn't have enough, Norm figured out.
And those glycoproteins were made of different proteins and carbohydrates (sugar). And one of this sugar was missing in the Na'vi biology. It was a polysaccharid, which was only to be found in nocturnal plants.
The human body was able to produce this sugar on its own, Norm said, but the Na'vi body wasn't. Without it, the immune system couldn't produce the right glycoproteins which were needed for the receptors to fight off the virus. So without that sugar, the virus wasn't destructible.
So we needed to find a way to create that sugar synthetically. Norm had the idea to take samples of all (or as many as possible) nocturnal plants in this area. After that we could find out, if one of those plants contained that special sugar and we could make an antibiotic out of it.
Better said than done - there were like hundred different plants that bloomed in the dark. It seemed impossible to find the right one. But Norm was a helpless optimist.
Night after night, we went out into the jungles of Pandora and collected as many nocturnal plants as we could.
We totally sank into our researchers and didn't notice that weeks had gone by. But by the end of the month, we got a radio signal from Jake: Mo'at felt worse.
...
Norm and I went through the village of the Omatikaya Clan to Mo'ats shed. Bones and feathers decorated the entrance. Inside were Jake, Neytiri and ther son Neteyam. I took a look at his bandage but it seemed still clean and fresh. So no bleedings. And he looked better, less sweathy. His eyes sparkled even in the dim light and his fangs shone white when he smiled.
"Glad you came", Jake said and his brows furrowed. "She's worse."
"When I came here this morning, she was not conscious. But I could wake her up", Neytiri looked at her Mom in fear.
The old lady coughed and made a hand gesture. "I'm fine. I'm fine"
"Well, you don't seem fine!", Norm kneeled down next to her and opened his medicine case. He listened to her heartbeat und bit his lip. "Too fast, did you have hallucinations again?"
Mo'at was sick, but her pride wasn't gone. "No!"
"Yes", Jake murmured. "She did"
Norm sighed and looked at the shaman in silence. "I will give you another antibiotics."
As he prepared the injection, he explained what we've found out.
That we tried to produce an antibiotic from nocturnal plants and that it could be possible to heal every Omatikaya with it. But we needed to hurry.
"Thats a good plan", Jake said. He looked at Mo'at, who had gone back to sleep. "Norm, listen, I want you to send someone who can watch her twenty-four-seven. Someone who checks her out. She is one of the most important people on our Clan, if something happens to her..."
Neytiri suppressed a little sob.
"I know Jake", Norm said an placed his blue hand on Jake's arm. "I will send someone"
Jake nodded and put an arm around Neytiri's shoulders. Neteyam just stood there and seemed lost.
I had an idea. I looked at Norm. "I could watch her."
The scientist raised his eyebrows. "Eva, I need you with the... Hm but why not? That's a good idea! I want you to watch over her and take good care of her. And in the meanwhile you can take some samples of some nocturnal plants around here. With that we can reduce the time and maybe we can find the right glycoprotein in no time!" He was so excited. I chuckled. "Aye-aye, Captain"
Norm looked at me proudly. "Thank you. Oh! And I need blood samples from everyone who got recently infected."
I nodded. "As good as done"
He smiled and gave me one of the two radio devices, he always carried around here. "If something happens you can call me. And you can return in the lab whenever you want, I think you can leave the Avatar body here." He gave Jake a questioning look. Toruk Makto just nodded.
"Alright, perfect. I'll bring you all the equipment you'll need in like an hour. I wish you good luck."
With that he said goodbye to the Omatikaya and left. Jake and Neytiri gave me some last informations about Mo'at and the Omatikaya and showed me a place to sleep. "Neteyam, can you show her a bit around?", Jake said and the boy nodded. They left and Neteyam and I were alone. I looked around, we stood under a massive tree which had some kind of hammocks in it's branches. That's where I was supposed to sleep!?
Some Omatikaya looked at me in curiosity and smiled when our eyes locked. Then I remembered, Neteyam wanted to show me around. I turned towards him. He was taller than me, and I already felt really tall in my Avatar body. My hair was waist-length and had no braids in it. Not like most of the Na'vi around here. I worse human shoes and clothes. A black tank top and cargo pants. Nothing spectacular, but I felt different.
Neteyam just stared at me, as if he had never seen a female Avatar. A strand of his braided hair had fallen over his cat-like ears and framed his face. He was actually really handsome. Wait, what did I just think? We was an Alien, sort of.
"Ready?", he asked. I frowned. "For what?"
"I wanted to show you around?"
Face palm. I felt my cheeks getting hot. Of course, how could I forget?
I followed him through the village and tried to remember the things he told me, but I couldn't pay attention. We were in a part of the forest, I've never seen before. It was absolutely stunning. The trees were as high as skyscrapers and their branched as thick as highways. Hundreds of vines growed down towards the earth and created some sort of curtains. I saw buildings like tree houses or huts up in the branch forks and I imagined what it must be like growing up there.
"It's beautiful, isn't it?", Neteyams voice. I looked at him. "It's amazing! I've never seen something like this!"
He chuckled. It sounded cute.
"You know, I've got an idea", he said and we stopped walking. "Yeah?", I asked.
Neteyam looked down at the bandage around his chest and I began to worry.
"I could help you with the plants. I know this area much better than you, I know where all those plants are. And that's the very least I can do to, I mean you and Norm stiched me back up again when I was wounded."
He looked at me and smiled shyly.
"So, If you'd like to..." He shrugged and I smiled. "It would be nice, thank you"

Zoé: Psst, Cosette. *Raising and lowering her eyebrows* Should we ditch this fool?
Cosette: *Raising and lowering their eyebrows* I dunno. The guyâs simpinâ hard.
Zoé: We can listen to him, OR, we can listen to Clara Nightingale
Cosette: Iâm game. Side note? Your eyebrow language is like⊠SO on point. đ
ZoĂ©: đ
â
Mireille: Ivan, how do you stay so chill?
Ivan: I just channel my anxiety into something more productive, like poems for sick children.
*Meanwhile, a child is in the fetal position after reading one of Ivanâs darker poems*
â
Nino: I have eyes, you know. Theyâre right under my eyebrows!
â
Kim: No, no, no! Like this! âFor-er suppah, I-er a, want a party plattah!â

Marc: Climate change.
Marinette: So that was real? Hmm. What are you doing out here at the thinking docks, Marc?
Marc: Oh, Iâm just trying to get better at being more insightful, be more like the Marc Iâm cloned from.
Marinette: Seems to me thereâs not telling what to think these days. You know, normally, Iâd check in with my friend, Sacqueline at times like this. I think sheâs been avoiding me.
*Cut to Sacqueline still cryogenically frozen*
â
Juleka: Jean, do you know the story of Juleka the Countess?
Jean: Oh yeah, Iâve seen a movie about it on tv. She was like sixteen, right? And then people started accusing her of being some demon vampire becuase girls who always went into her castle never came out, but the truth is that they were lesbians escaping marriage to men through her resources, but then at the end, she got burned to a crisp because people thought she was a demon vampire. Pretty good, I give it a thumbs up.
Juleka: ⊠Basically. See, Iâve never been able to live up to her, and thatâs why, instead, I became a cynical angst-ridden goth girl.
â
Austin Q: Iâm gonna nail ya! *Holds up a nail gun* With this nail gun! Thatâs in my pants!

â
Jean: Do you mind?! Some of us are trying to make out with Austin the Great here... Or should I say Austin the fiiiiiine.
â
ChloĂ©: Yes! Itâll be as easy as getting with murder!⊠I assume.
â
Max: What would the real Nathaniel Kurtzberg have done?
Nathaniel: He would have high tailed it out of that camp and hopped a boat. Then he would have died of a heart attack in his 60s. But what are the chances of that happening again? Hehe.
Max: Thirty-eight percent.
â
Cosette: If there's one thing the OG Cosette Bellamy and I stand for, its revenge.
â
Marinette: Why don't you just take the tissues out and it'll fall off?
Chloé: *Gasps* You signed a nondisclosure agreement! I hope you have good lawyers, because I'm gonna sue your hand-me-down pants off, creature trash!
Ismael: Girls, girls, girls! You're both human beings. You both put your bras on one-leg-at-a-time.
â
Simon: Hey, take a hit, relax! God's message can be a total trip. But you know you gotta do what he tells you, because God has a plan for all of us⊠A painful, painful planâŠ
â
Mme. Mendeleiv: I first got the idea for Cloney Island after seeing the movie Jurassic Park 3. But my ill-conceived amusement park will be filled with human clones instead of zoo animals. It's as fool-proof as the amusement park in the movie itself!
â
Rose: I like your funny words, magic man!
â
Nathaniel: *on phone* Sometimes I just turn the lights off in my room and cry.
Nino: I'm sorry, uh, Nath, could you speak up?
Nathaniel: The only way I can cling to my sanity is that nobody knows how lonely I truly am.
Nino: *To crowd at party, snickering* He's sad...
Crowd: *Laughs*
Nino: It's hilarious!
Nathaniel: Wait, am I on speakerphone?!
Nino: Hey, would Nino put somebody on speakerphone?
Crowd: NO!
Nathaniel: This is Nino, how could you? *begins to tear up and his lower lip begins to quiver*
Nino: Hey man, Ninoâs anti-violence, not anti-comedy. *Hangs up* Feels good to help people.
â
Kim: Gay foster dads, do you mind if I watch Will & Grace with you?
â
Chloé: Ugh. I almost made out with Aurore? Uh, hot.
â
Lila: Do you know what my real name is? *Whispers to Rose* Lila Rossi.
Rose: Cool!
Lila: Not. Cool.
â
ZoĂ©: *Standing on Marcâs shoulders as he skateboards down a slanted road* Shred, Marc! Shred!
Marc: *His eyebrows pop off and try to inch away* Where do you think youâre going, eyebrows? *His eyebrows slink back and reattach themselves to his face*

Where to begin?
Iâm totally fucked.
Of the 14 big monuments we had sitting in the back, some since 2021, we got three done by a local contractor I emailed personally. Then I went into Beast Mode and tried to get the grounds crew to get ready for 5 monuments when the granite company came next. Then, end of day before the delivery, I see that the foundation for the guy whoâs been coming in every week, whoâs father died two years ago, comes in saying âListen I donât want to cause a problem. I would take him to another cemetery if I could, but I canât. Just please install his tombstone thatâs already here.â I have personally issued the paperwork three times, with many pleas. And itâs not done.
Iâm furious. I come in the next day, bring it to the GM, the superintendent, who has one of his main guys suspended for the week. My boss stops by and says âOh, one of the grounds guys walked off today.â Later, in my office, sheâs like, âItâs such a shame Bryan isnât here this week, when we need him the most.â Like she didnât piss him off and nearly get him to quit and then had to suspend him. Psycho shit. Iâm running around like crazy, I find two markers that were never actually ordered because the rubbings were never submitted. Iâm in the dirt, in a caved in grave, trying to do a rubbing on a caved in headstone in a caved in grave, of a young daughterâs little bunny rabbits to match for her sisterâs tombstone. I get called back because they need the golf cart to cheer up some friends of a cop that got killed. I understand, but Iâm just beat red, soaked in sweat, so pissed.
By the end of the day, the foundation is in. I ask the GM about the giant bench that needs to be installed. I havenât checked that the foundation was installed with my own eyes, because I told the GM that it wasnât done last week, and then she personally insisted they finished it after. I ask her again if it is done. I realize I donât believe a word she says. I check. Itâs not in. What the holy fuck. I cannot trust a single fucking person at this place.
The delivery never comes.
The next day I come down with some stomach illness and feel like Iâve been hit with a truck. They let me go, my trainer stays. She proceeded to have a horrible fucking day. We have a huge stack of shit to do that has been delayed because we are trying to get all these monuments and other random headstones and bronzes that have been piling behind the garage out. She gets nothing done because she keeps having new pissed off customers yelling at her at the front desk. The delivery truck arrives, insisted the foundation for that bench is there because the GM STILL INSISTS that is that case, treats her like an idiot.
The vendor got 7 monuments in. Not 5, not 4. Seven.
The trainer texts me crying on the way home. I left work at 11am. Hit the bed and slept until 4pm. She texts. I fall back asleep until 1am. I watch 30 minutes of Best in Show, sleep until 6:30.
Back behind the garage, thereâs more progress than ever. You can almost see the ground. By deus ex machina, we are doing better than we ever imagined weâd be. I work slowly through the day taking stock. Drive by and sit with the coyote for a while. (I told Buck the coyote was named Junebug, after a friend of mine). I leave at 3:00 because Iâm still tired. Wake up at 4am totally refreshed, finally realizing how sick I must have been.
Work through Memorial Day weekend. Only four days off this month.
Today, my trainer is finally back. Itâs nice to see her. We plan to see a family in the afternoon who has the stone monument in stock, is still trying to make changes to the design, and also wanted it completed in 3 week. No. They try to cancel but realize they have no where to go, so weâre going to help them design it.
We go out to lunch. I bring my tarot cards. Her reading says that she has a precocious student who is going to inspire her toward a happily ever after. Whatever that means. Mine says that I am dreaming of escaping, either like a thief in the night, or sad, exhausted, and defeated, but in the end I stay, just barely ahead of the pack. She gets a phone call.
Sheâs gone for a long time on this call. I do another reading for myself, which this time is a lot more optimistic. The King of Pentacles.
She comes back to the table, her face is bright red, covered in tears. âAre you ready to go?â
âAre you okay?â
She canât tell me whatâs wrong. I ask âDid you get promoted?â She laughs. No. She says, âYou canât tell Carlene.â I have no idea what sheâs talking about. It occurs to me that maybe theyâre moving Carlene somewhere else to attack her boss. No. I tell her, âYou know, this job. If youâre this miserable, maybe you should do something else. These days, they all add up.â Theyâre pulling my trainer out at the end of the week to work on something else. Iâll never be trained. Not really. We just sort of solved their emergency, and now Iâm going to be one more memorialist at this location who has no idea what theyâre doing.
She feels bad because Iâm totally fucked. Her whole job is to coordinate and make us the best there is, and the company just doesnât give a fuck. They just want to save money. Iâm just trying to be like âNo, itâs ok. Youâll be gone for a while. Iâll still call. I have Sandra. Iâll be fine.â
I give her 15 minutes in the car to just cry.
Iâm getting the room ready to meet this family. She comes in. She says she canât look at my face without crying. She leaves. The mother comes in, Iâm alone, but I talk to her for a while and try to guide her through some process that I barely understand myself. The husband comes in. When the trainer comes in, itâs so obvious sheâs fucking devastated. Thereâs two parents of a dead boy here, and sheâs so fucked up.
I take the family outside to look at other monuments and explain the different engraving techniques to them. She gets a call, disappears for a long time. I come back in with the family once we decide on a few things and send her a text that weâre back in the arrangement room.
It goes well. We come up with a proof. I hand her a pillow from the couch and tell her to take off her glasses. I hit her a few times and she hits me back. Back in my office, I ask her if she needs a hug. She says no. She says she just needs to not be a baby. I have five files slapped on my desk at the end of the day for burials that need to be finalized. Sheâs trying to act happy when she goes, even though sheâs still a wreck, which is all the more heartbreaking.
At one point, I am trying to pull up my bank account on my computer to see if I have enough money to walk out on my job, but I pause, and slow down, and get back to work.

Omega Depression || Alpha!Kiribaku x Omega!fem!reader
Hi! Can I request an alpha!Kiribaku x omega!fem!reader where she is strong on the outside, but sensitive on the inside. Then, some asshole alpha comes and insults her saying that she isn't worthy of having alphas and other super mean stuff that makes her go to omega depression. After that, she confines and isolates herself in her room, not allowing her alphas to enter. Days pass, she misses school for like a week, and her alphas are tired of waiting, so they bust the door and find their omega deep in omega depression and starving herself, and they're super worried and try to help her get out of it, cause she could die if not. The rest can be little angst with a fluffy happy ending!
Yo I live for alpha kiribaku, not gonna lie
Warnings: angst, mental health stuff, depression, eating disorder/starvation stuff, abo
Requests are open!
You were always happy with your alphas. Bakugou and Kirishima were the loves of your life, you were sure of it. The three of you got along well, and there was nothing you enjoyed more than spending time with your boys. You kept up with them easily, never having trouble when it came to handling Katsukiâs temper or Eijiroâs enthusiasm. They loved protecting you, too, not that you ever really seemed to need it; you were tough as nails, as far as everyone was concerned.Â
You werenât, though, not really.Â
âWhat a useless little omega.â
The words kept repeating in your head, over and over.
âTwo alphas? Yeah, right. You donât even deserve one, not with an uppity attitude like that.â
They kept echoing, no matter what you tried to do.Â
âWhat a stupid bitch. They should just leave your sorry ass. You arenât worthy of anyone, much less alphas.â
You curled in on yourself. You felt sick to your stomach. How could someone say that about you? How could a shitty alpha go and ruin your mood, and your day, by saying something so awful?
âI am worthy!â You had argued. âAnd weâre happy together, so just fuck off.â
âOh yeah? Then why havenât they claimed you yet?â His lips had pulled over his teeth in a sick grin. âYou know theyâre just biding their time, waiting for something better to come along. Youâre nothing to them.â
The little spat had been earlier that morning. It was rare that you ever went out alone; usually Eijirou or Katsuki or both of them were stuck to you like glue, but this had been one of those instances when you had absolutely insisted you would be fine. After all, you were just running a couple errands. You werenât even going very far from campus. Whatâs the worst that could possibly happen?
Well...this, apparently.
You had rejected the advances of an alpha who had been eyeing you for quite some time. He was annoying and his scent always made you recoil, but you would never, not in a million years, have thought that he could hurt you so deeply.
Why were his words even bothering you so much? You knew your boys liked you. They made sure to constantly cover you in their scents, they happily gave up their shirts for you to tuck into your little bed nest, they held your hands and gave you sweet little kisses...
And yet, he was right. They hadnât claimed you yet. There were no big bite marks on your neck to show the world that you were taken. Why hadnât it happened yet? You always thought that maybe they were just nervous, and they wanted to wait for the right time. Maybe they wanted to wait until school was over and they were better established as heroes.
Or maybe they were just playing with you, maybe you were nothing more than their favorite toy for the time being. What if they got tired of you? What if they really were planning on kicking you to the curb? Without a bond mark, nobody would even blink if they cast you aside. It would just be a normal break up, nothing for anybody else to even care about or get involved in.
But your heart was already aching at the thought of it.
You huddled up in your nest, ugly sobs wracking your body as you clutched one of Katsukiâs hoodies to your chest. An undershirt of Eijirouâs was nearby, a few plushies that they had given you tucked in amongst the blankets and pillows. The scents of burnt sugar and cinnamon wafted around you, and as comforting as they usually were, they werenât helping you now. Nothing was.
You heard your phone vibrate, but you didnât reach for it. You didnât care. You were too wrapped up in your own thoughts, absolutely trapped in your head now. You were plagued by those same words as they kept repeating, telling you over and over that you were worthless, useless, nothing.
When you finally managed to glance at your phone, you had missed texts from both your alphas. You replied to them with a couple of half hearted âyeah, Iâm fineâ -s, then finally slithered out of bed to make sure your door was locked. You didnât want to face them when they came to bother you.
If they came.
You spent the entire day like that. When you were out of tears to cry, you just grew numb. It was the worst you had ever felt, and while some part of you knew, deep down, that you needed your alphas to come help you, you couldnât stand the idea of them seeing you like this. How had you managed to grow so afraid? You usually told them everything, but now...now you abhorred the thought.
âOi!â Katsukiâs rough voice came from the other side of your door, his scent wafting in. âOpen up!â
You didnât answer, curling in on yourself even further instead.Â
âOmega!â he called angrily. âStop ignoring me, dammit!â
âGo away!â you managed to squeeze out, your voice sounding weak and strangled.Â
He was silent for a moment, his scent changing. It grew more burnt-smelling as his anger mounted, and as it reached your nose, you felt panic and annoyance spiking in your chest.Â
âOmega,â he growled, voice low. You heard the doorknob jiggling as he tried to get in, but you had locked the deadbolt, and unless he unleashed his quirk right there in the dorms, there was no way he was entering your room.
âI said go away!â you yelled.Â
On the other side of the door, Katsuki was fuming. The beginning sparks of little explosions were popping around his hands, and if Eijirou wasnât there to hold his arms down at his sides, there was a good chance he would have done some real damage to the hallway.Â
âKatsuki, câmon.â the larger alpha said. âLetâs just leave her alone for a little.â
âSomethingâs wrong,â Katsuki pulled back as his partner started trying to drag him away. âShe stinks.â
âYeah, she definitely doesnât smell happy,â Kirishima paused, frowning. âBut...we need to give her the space, if she wants it.â
âFuck that,â his partner spat.Â
âKatsuki....â Eijirou sighed.Â
Bakugouâs nostrils flared angrily for a moment, red eyes wild as Kirishima grabbed his arm once again. Someone was trying to drag him away from his omega, from his perfect little mate, and if it had been anyone other than Eijirou, he would have done far worse than simply dig his heels into the floor and growl in protest. Kirishima was right, though; if their omega wanted alone time, they couldnât just barge in without permission. As much as it hurt both boys, as desperate as they were to get to you and make you feel better, they werenât total animals. They respected you, and prided themselves on being two big, capable alphas who listened to their omega.Â
They returned to their own rooms, expecting to at least hear from you within an hour or two.Â
Hours turned to days.Â
You texted them a few times, listless, half-assed messages that did little to reassure them. You would send a pathetic Iâm fine or a Itâs okay here and there, only after they had both blown your phone up for a few hours. It was the only reason they hadnât tried to tear your door off its hinges; they knew you were alive, at least. But by the third day, Katsuki was beside himself, and even Eijirou was getting upset enough to consider using his quirk to get to you.Â
You wished that he would. You didnât want to face them, but at the same time, the fact that they werenât tearing the building apart to reach you was making you even sadder. Your sad scent was starting to leech out into the rest of the dorms, and by the end of the fifth day, nobody could stop your alphas.Â
âOy!â Bakugou snarled, his fist thudding against your door. âOpen up, omega!â
You didnât answer, too weak and listless to bother.Â
âBabe?â Kirishima asked, his voice strained with the effort of not yelling in panic.Â
âWe know youâre in there,â Katsuki growled. âQuit avoiding us!â
Still, you didnât answer.Â
Then, you could hear some shuffling, and the door was being torn off its hinges by Kirishima. Bakugou stormed in as soon as the path was clear, his red eyes blazing with anger, his hands balled into fists.
âYouâd better show your face right fuckinâ now, or I swear Iââ
He fell silent at the sight of you. His eyes widened, his nostrils flaring. Your scent was so strong and so incredibly miserable that a wave of nausea passed through him. He hadnât expected that it would be so pungent in your room, and as he covered his mouth and nose with his hand, he rushed towards you.
âBaby,â he cooed, vaguely aware of Kirishima behind him, âwhat the fuck is going on?â
You tried to bury yourself in your nest, trying to burrow away from the world, but a big hand caught you around the middle and pulled you back out. Eijirou manhandled you easily, his eyes wide with concern as he sat on the floor and placed you in his lap.
âYou havenât been eating,â he observed, looking at your tired eyes. âOr sleeping.â
Katsuki was beside himself with worry. He was immediately sitting in front of his boyfriend, caging you in between them as he began looking you over. âWhat the hell is goinâ on?â
You didnât want to tell them. Your throat was sore from crying, and you felt stupid for being so upset. So, you did the only logical thing you could think of and buried your face in Kirishimaâs broad chest, clinging to his shirt weakly.
âOmega, please,â the big redhead pleaded, leaning his head down to scent you. âTell us.â
You shook your head.
âWe know Somethinâ is wrong, so spit it out!â Katsuki barked.
His voice was harsh, but you felt a warm, gentle hand on your back that could only be his. The familiar touch made you sigh, and after a shuddery breath, the dam finally broke.
âTh-there was an alpha,â you whimpered, voice muffled by Kirishima.
âWhat the fuck did they do?â Katsuki growled, his voice deep and savage. It sent a chill down your spine and you whined, clinging to Eijirou for dear life.
âCut it out,â Kirishima snapped, snorting at his boyfriend angrily. âYouâre making it worse.â
âI just wanna know what happened!â He grumbled, his hand pressing into your back.
You hiccuped as a little sob wracked your body. âA-an alpha I rejected, h-he told meâŠhe told me that I wasnât good enough for you.â
The low rumble in Kirishimaâs chest was like nothing you had ever felt before. It was threatening and powerful, putting Bakugouâs growl a moment ago to shame. His arms tightened around you, the scent gland on his neck slipping over your hair as he tried to cover up your unhappy omega stink.
âIâm gonna fucking kill him.â Kirishima snarled, uncharacteristically angry.
âHey.â Bakugou slipped a hand around your waist, prying you away from the other alpha slightly. âLook at me.â
You faced him with teary eyes, and when you tried to shy away, he took your chin in his fingers.Â
âWe fuckinâ love you. Okay? I donât say it much. Maybe I should say it more. But itâs true, ân no stupid, two-bit, shitty-ass alpha knows anything about the three of us.â
He leaned forward, pushing you back up against Kirishima with his head resting on your shoulder. You finally sighed, surrounded by the scents of your alphas, allowing yourself to relax as the dam broke and your crying started all over again. This time, though, it was freeing, and as your alphas rocked back and forth with you, you felt the dread and the anxiety slowly leaving your stomach.Â
âBetter?â Eijirou asked after a while.Â
âA little.â you said, voice muffled by his tear-stained shirt.Â
âGood.â Katsuki said gruffly, pulling you up to stand. âLetâs go get some food in you. Point that shitbag out if you see him...I wanna have a few words.â

Be My Baby | Qian Kun
Pairing: Qian Kun x Reader
Summary: One night, your old flame Kun calls you back to his apartment, to treat his sick baby. The wine flows, and your feelings for him become stronger than ever...
Genre: Dad!Kun, College friends AU, Y/n has a crush on KunÂ
Word Count:Â 1.2k
âRING RING!Â
The ringtone made your hand jolt, and the eyeliner wing you were painting smudged. You swore under your breath. But as soon as you saw the name on the dialler your frustration melted away, being replaced by nervous flutters.Â
You picked up the phone. "Hey, Kun. What's up?"Â
Kun's voice tumbled out of the speaker. "Hey, Y/n, I'm sorry to call you on a Saturday night but Xia's got a fever and she's red and my car broke down so I can't take her to the hospital and I'm really worried and-"
"Shh, Kun. Breathe,â you said, cutting him off. âDo you need me to come and check-up on her?" Â
You could hear Kun sigh with relief. "That would be great, Y/n. I'm not messing up your plans for tonight right?"Â
You thought about the blind date you were supposed to go on. It would be useless anyway; you couldn't date when you were still in love with Kun, your best friend from college.Â
"No, you're not interrupting anything. I'll be over soon."
Twenty minutes later, and you were knocking on Kun's apartment door.Â
Kun pulled the door open. When you saw him, you had to force your mouth to stay shut.Â
Kun was standing there, shirtless, carrying his baby in one arm.Â
You forced your eyes to steer away from the smattering of black hair that fell into his faded jeans.Â
"Y/n, youâre here! I'm so sorry, Xia was sick on me and I didn't have time to change. Come inside."Â
You walked into the living room and placed your medical bag on the coffee table. You fished out your stethoscope and thermometer.Â
"Put Xia in the cot,â you said. âLet me take a look at her."Â
"Thank god you're here, Y/n. It's so useful to have a paediatrician as a friend." Kun said, chuckling.
Friend. You tried not to grimace. Instead, you focussed on the child in front of you, pushing your emotions to one side and letting your medical training take over.Â
The little baby's chubby cheeks were rosy, and her big eyes were glassy. She really was the spitting image of her father. You checked her all over.Â
Kun came back into the living room, this time wearing a T shirt. Your shoulders slumped in disappointment.
You picked up the baby. "Xiaâs okay. Itâs just a cold. She should be back to normal in a day or so. I've given her some calpol, just make sure she has enough to eat and drink."Â
Kun rocked the baby in his muscled arms. "Sorry, Y/n. I must seem like a typical over-anxious parent. It's just hard raising her all on my own, you know."Â
You touched his arm, ignoring how your nerves danced at the contact. "You're doing amazing, Kun."Â
Kun beamed, and his glorious dimples came out. "Will you stay for a bit? Let me just put Xia to bed. I feel like we haven't had a proper catch up in ages."
You heart thumped. "S-sure."
Ten minutes later, Kun came into the living room, a glass of red wine in each hand. "I hope you don't mind, I opened a bottle. I remember how much you liked it in college." Kun gave you a teasing smile and passed you a glass.Â
He sat down on the couch beside you, so close to you that you could feel the heat radiating from his denim clad thigh.Â
"So, howâs work?" he said. "Are you liking the new hospital?"Â
"Yes! I really feel like I can make a difference there." You took a large sip of wine. " What about you? Hendery still giving you grief at the office?"
"You know it!" Kun said, pushing his hand through his chestnut hair. "You know... it's so nice to have a normal conversation with another adult thatâs not about babies. Don't get me wrong, I love my daughter, but it's nice to have someone else around."
You bit your lip.Â
Kun's cheeks were flushed - from the wine or his words, you didn't know.Â
He went on. "You make me feel like... like a person again. Like a man. Not just a nappy-changing-bottle-feeding robot. Youâre amazing, Y/n."Â
You shifted closer, eyes locked on his plump, kissable lips...
You were suddenly overcome with a desire to kiss him. You gripped his T shirt, pulled him towards you and pressed your lips against his.Â
Kun's froze. His eyes went wide. To your dismay, he wasnât kissing back.Â
After feeling his muscles tense, you pulled away. You clasped your hand over your mouth.
Kun was staring at you, mouth agape.Â
A horrible wave of embarrassment flooded through you. "Oh my god, Kun, I'm so sorry. I didn't even ask-"Â
"Hey," Kun said, placing a steadying hand on your thigh. "It's okay. You just caught me off guard. Do you perhaps... like me?"Â
You gulped. "Yes, I⊠have done for a while. I was going to say something, but then your ex got pregnant and Xia was born and... the timing was never right."Â
Kun nodded. "Wow. I had no idea you felt that way, Y/n."Â
When he saw the disappointment your face, he rushed to continue. "Don't get me wrong, you're a total catch! But- but you're my friend, and Iâd rather not jinx that. Also, I haven't dated or been... intimate with anyone since Xia was born..."
You blinked furiously, willing the tears away. "It's okay, Kun. I understand. Iâm going to go." You stood up. Â
But Kun grabbed your wrist before you could leave. "Wait, Y/n, don't leave like this."
You sat back down. Your pride was already wounded, how much more damage could five minutes do?Â
"I'm flattered that you like me, Y/n. And I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought about you like that, in the past. But I'm so overwhelmed with Xia and work... I just don't think I'd make a good boyfriend right now."
You nodded. âCan I ask you something?â
Kun stroked the back of your hand. âAnythingâŠâÂ
âCan we kiss? Just for a bit. Letâs forget about the future or responsibilities⊠just live in the moment.â
Kun bit his lip, thinking. He really didnât know how sexy he was. Eventually, he said. âHow can I refuse such a beautiful woman?âÂ
You reached forwards and touched the back of Kunâs neck, feeling the stubble of his hair line under your fingertips.Â
You pulled him towards you, and kissed him on the mouth. His lips were velvety and soft like pillows. When his tongue touched yours, you jolted.Â
Lips still locked together, Kun lay you down on the couch and shifted on top of you. You could feel his body all over you, smell the faint coconut of his shampoo.Â
You wrapped your hands around his broad shoulders and pulled him closer. Kunâs hand found its way to your clothed waist. Then his fingers danced up your side and softly touched your breast.Â
You longed to pull his T shirt off to feel his skin against yours, but then-
âWAAAAAA!â
You both froze.Â
Kun removed his hand from your breast and sat up. He helped you up to a sitting position on the couch.Â
Kun took a deep breath and fanned his heated face.Â
âI better go and tend to her,â he said, smiling apologetically.Â
You nodded. âIâll probably get going.âÂ
Kun squeezed your hand. âItâs unfair of me to ask you to wait for me, but Iâm going to do it anyway.â
You couldnât help but laugh. âOkay.âÂ

"Accidently ending a phone call with your roommate with a casual âI love youâ seems like a very good reason to move out"
For benrey @ gordon?
âAnd can you pick up some oat milk while youâre there? I just realized Iâm out.â
âMan, oat milk freaks me out,â Benrey said, pushing their shopping cart towards the dairy section anyway. âLike, do oats even have, uh. Others?â
âOthers?â There was a beat of silence as Gordon attempted to figure out exactly what the hell Benrey was talking about. âYou mean udders?â
âYeah. Cow things.â
âDude, thatâs not how oat milk works.â Gordonâs laugh made Benreyâs cheap phone speakers crackle.
âThen how does it work? Huh? Mister scientician?â Benrey propped the phone between their ear and shoulder as they opened the fridge door to grab the brand of oat milk he knew Gordon liked.
âI donât fucking know! Iâm not a goddamn milk scientist.â Even through a phone call, Benrey could hear the smile on Gordonâs face. âThey squeeze juice out of the oats or smush them into a paste or something. I donât know. Stop making me think about how oat milk works, itâs going to make me not want to drink it anymore.â
âCool, so Iâll buy milk with extra lactose then.â
âYou will not, unless you wanna deal with me laying on the couch complaining all afternoon because my stomach hurts.â
âYou do that anyway.â
âFuck off, man.â Gordonâs tone of voice didnât carry any bite to it. âAlright, I gotta go, Iâm almost at the end of the queue to pick Joshie up. Iâll see you back at home, okay?â
âMhm. Love you, bye.â Benrey hung up and shoved their phone back in their jacket pocket. They unfolded the shopping list and attempted to decipher the mix of their own chicken scratch, Gordonâs doctor handwriting, and the occasional misspelled request for snacks in Joshuaâs six year old handwriting. Okay, they had to get those frozen chicken nuggets Joshua liked, another pack of seltzer, a can of black beans since Gordon was planning to cook dinner tonight-
Thinking about Gordon made them suddenly freeze in place as they realized what theyâd just done. Did⊠Did they just say âlove youâ on the phone with Gordon?
Aw, fuck.
Theyâd been living with Gordon for a while now. It hadnât always been an easy thing for either of them. When theyâd been freshly respawned, both of them had been jumpy around each other at best, and at worst, they were at each otherâs throats trying to kill each other. It took a long time and a lot of uncomfortable conversations for them to get to the point where they could interact without an unbearable amount of tension. From there, they were able to start rebuilding an actual friendship. Turns out, they got along a lot better when they werenât in mortal danger. Who knew!
Living with Gordon involved a lot of rules, both spoken and unspoken. They involved stuff like âdonât ask weird questions about Gordonâs feet,â âif one of them gets too angry, walk it off instead of actually fighting,â and âno gross body horror in front of Gordonâs son.â It also involved shit like âplease for the love of god donât put empty juice cartons back in the fridgeâ and âdonât stain the carpets with Sweet Voice, this is a rental and that security deposit is worth getting back.â So far, Benrey hadnât had too much trouble following the rules. They had been a security guard, after all; following rules was supposed to be their thing. Besides, they were a low price to pay to get to spend time with Gordon.
One of those early unspoken rules, however, had been âkeep the flirting to a minimum.â That one had been a little tricky at first, but it had been necessary, especially back when they still werenât on the best of terms. Benrey learned that when Gordon was already worked up, blowing a kiss did the opposite of diffusing the situation. This was news to Benrey. Who didnât love a little kiss from their buddies? Lame.
That had been an early rule, though, and one that had kind of faded into the background over time. The longer they lived together, the more physically affectionate they both got, and a little domesticity is only to be expected when you share a household. It was nice. Comfortable.
And then Benrey had to go and say âI love youâ on the phone. What the fuck.
That had to be crossing a line, right? Gordon was fine with some handholding and some cuddling and theyâd make dinner together once a week, but this had to be pushing it.
Benrey went through the rote motions of buying the rest of their groceries without really paying attention, too busy panicking. There was only one option. They had to move out. This was fine. This was totally fine. They could just crash on Tommyâs couch until they find a place of their own because there was no way this wasnât going to make Gordon freak the fuck out. As much as they loved fucking with Gordon, theyâd learned there was the fun kind of freaking him out and the bad kind of freaking him out. They were fairly certain this fell into the bad category.
By the time that they were walking up to their apartment door, they were already mentally packing up all their things, resigned to their fate. They were so stuck in their own head that Joshua barreling into their legs when they opened the door actually startled them.
âBenny!â Joshua cheered, clinging to their jeans.
âHey, liâl dude.â Benrey carefully tried to push past the kid without tripping over him on the way to the kitchen. Tragically, thatâs where Gordon also happened to be.
âHey, what took you so long?â Gordon asked, taking some of the grocery bags from them. âI thought youâd gotten lost in Costco again.â
Benrey grunted noncommittally and started putting away groceries instead of answering Gordon. Maybe if they didnât look at him, they could avoid confronting whatever Gordonâs reaction was. Yeah, definitely, this seemed like a sustainable, reasonable decision to make. Yep.
âDude.â Gordonâs hand suddenly appeared on their forearm. Benrey stared at it, then looked up at Gordonâs concerned face. âAre you okay?â
âHuh?â
âYouâre putting carrots in the utensil drawer.â
Benrey looked down at their hands again. Oh. So they were.
âYouâve been acting weird ever since you got back from the store,â Gordon said, gently taking the carrots away from them. âDid something happen? You wanna talk about it?â
Benrey screwed their mouth up. No, they didnât want to talk about it, but learning how to talk through things like adults was something they both had agreed to do. That had been a rule introduced by an exasperated Tommy, sick of mediating their bullshit. So, they sighed and looked away while Gordon put the carrots in the vegetable drawer of the fridge. âI was thinking about how Iâve gotta move out.â
âWhat?â Gordon stood up too fast and smacked his head on the freezer door. He swore loudly, and Benrey reached over to hand him a bag of frozen peas to put on the back of his head. âThanks. But also, what? Since when are you moving out?â
âUh, since now?â Benrey said, confused. Shouldnât it be obvious?
âWhy?â
ââCause I said I love you on the phone? Dummy? You, uh, a fucking old man got bad brain disease, not remembering things?â They said, defaulting to picking on Gordon to avoid focusing on anything else. Gordon stared blankly at them for a moment, then, against all odds, a grin spread across his face.
âBenrey,â He said, and Benrey decided he didn't like that tone one bit, âAre you embarrassed?â
âWhuh? No.â There was no way they could be embarrassed. That definitely wasn't what was going on here. Nope. Not a bit, â...Maybe.â
âDude, you don't have to be embarrassed about that.â Gordon laughed. âDo you know how often I've said stupid Freudian slips? I called my sixth grade teacher mom once and wanted to change my name and move to Canada. I've been there.â
âIt wasn't, uh⊠It wasn't too much? Not crossing a line or anything?â
âNah, man. It was kinda sweet.â Gordon flashed him a smile and finished putting away the last of the groceries.
âCool.â Benrey relaxed, letting go of the tension that had been building in their shoulders. âThat's good âcause I was gonna fight you for custody of your Xbox.â Gordon snorted.
âGood fucking luck, youâre too much of a Playstation guy to win that case.â
The evening passed relatively uneventfully from there. Gordon enlisted Benreyâs help in cooking dinner, and Joshua eagerly told them all about the cool dinosaur facts heâd learned in class that day. They went through the easy routine of watching just one episode (which of course always turned into several episodes) of Joshuaâs choice of TV, then Benrey helped wash up in the kitchen while Gordon put Josh to bed. Gordon joined them as they finished washing dishes and squeezed Benreyâs shoulder affectionately when they were done.
âAlright, man, I think Iâm gonna head to bed early tonight.â
Benrey nodded. âCool. Iâll be quiet.â
âDonât worry about it. Gânight, dude.â
âNight, Gordon.â
âOh, and Benrey?â Gordon paused in the doorway of his bedroom and waited until Benrey glanced up at him. Gordon smiled. âLove you too.â
He shut the door before Benrey could respond, leaving Benrey to stare blankly at the door. They let out a groan, careful not to wake Joshua. Oh, Gordon was going to be the death of them.

For the Spotify thing, Trimberly and 12!
This is my last spotify wrapped fic from last year. I thought about it a lot and it didn't come out how I had envisioned it, so I sat on it. I'm gonna go ahead and share it though, and may possibly write to this song again, because it's such a great song for them and what I still have in my head for it needs to be written. But for now, here's this.
12 - More Than Words - Little Mix
"Always been there for me, now I'll do the same. Oh, I need you more than words can say."
Kimberly sat on her bed, leaning back against her propped up pillows against the headboard. She watched as Trini paced in front of her bed in her dorm room, ranting about her parents. Kim barely heard a word. Trini was disheveled with frizzy hair, wet from walking from her dorm in the rain. It reminded Kim of the first day they spoke, when Kim pulled over on the way home from high school because she saw Trini walking home in the drizzling rain. Kim had been drawn to Trini at the time. The new girl was declared âa loserâ by Kimâs friends, because she always walked through the halls with her head down and her headphones on. Kim didnât think she was a loser. And she learned quickly that she was right. Trini was kind, funny, and pretty. Had Kim not had a boyfriend, annoying as he was, she mightâve had a crush on Trini. As it was, they became good friends, despite what Kimâs friends said.Â
And here they were, three years later, after everything about Kimâs life had changed. Ty had dumped Kim for her best friend Amanda. Kim decided to get even by sending Ty a very unfortunately planned text message and picture. And Kim lost her friends and her social standing. Trini was all she had for the rest of high school, and while Kim made friends in college, no one was as close as Trini was. But Kim was okay with it, because Trini wasâŠbetter than everything sheâd had before. It took her some time to get to that point, but itâs where she was. She spent all of her time with Trini, and that thing about maybe having a crush on Trini? That was definitely a real thing. She couldnât help it. Trini was amazing, and beautiful, and she had really been there for Kim after her breakup and social fall in high school. So it was Kimâs mission to always be there for Trini, and her hope that one day, soon preferably, she could kiss her.
Trini finished her rant and flopped onto the bed on her back. âTheyâre so unreasonable,â she muttered.
âTotally,â Kim nodded, realizing she didnât even hear most of the rant because she was too busy thinking about Trini. She moved so that she was laying on her side next to Trini and ran her fingers through her hair. âThey donât get you,â she said. âThatâs their fault and their loss.â
âBut they donât even try.â
âI know,â Kim said. âI wish they would. Youâre great.â And Iâm in love with you, she didnât add. How could she not be? Trini was always so good to her. Trini comforted her after the disaster with Ty, and did it while hating Tyâs guts. She probably got so sick of hearing about it, but she didnât let it show. She just held Kimâs hand and told her how none of those people deserved her. Told Kim that despite her doing a bad thing she wasnât a bad person. And that all the bad thoughts running through Kimâs head would pass. Triniâs eyes had actually welled up in tears when Kim finally told her the most damning part; how the whole thing, what she had done, made her want to die. Trini had hugged her tightly and made her swear she wouldnât act on those feelings, because she couldnât bear the thought. And it had only made Kim cling tighter to Trini. Now, she snuggled up to Triniâs side and rested her head on Triniâs shoulder. âThe best,â she added softly.
âIâm glad someone thinks so,â Trini said softly, wrapping an arm around Kim. Kim picked up Triniâs hand and threaded their fingers together and squeezed it.
âWhoever doesnât think it doesnât deserve you feeling upset about them.â
âThink so?â Trini asked.
âI know so,â Kim replied. âIâm very smart and perceptive.âÂ
âYou? Perceptive?â Trini asked in a joking tone.
âExtremely,â Kim said with a nod.Â
âThat means you pick up on little things and have great insight into peopleâs feelings.â
âI do!â Kim claimed.
âTell me what Iâm feeling right now,â Trini challenged.
âYouâre feelingâŠvery grateful to have such an insightful best friend.â
âInsightful aboutâŠâ Trini led, tickling Kimâs side.
Kim laughed and squirmed. âAbout the fact that you think Iâm the best best friend anyone could ask for and you donât know how you got so lucky.â
âWellll,â Trini said. âThat is true. You are and I donât.â Trini held Kim tighter and Kim pressed her face into Triniâs neck.
âItâs because youâve been such a good friend to me. You helped me at my worst, andâŠâ Kim exhaled through her nose then breathed in Triniâs warm scent. âI just want to return it.â She wasnât even sure if she could properly return what Trini had done for her. All Kim knew was that, curled up in Triniâs embrace, she could hardly breathe and her heart felt like it was a butterfly in a cage; flapping for release. All of that, and that Trini deserved the world. At that moment, Kim had never wanted Trini more. Emotionally, mentally, and physically. More than anything that she could possibly say.
âI did what any friend would do,â Trini protested.
âNo. Not anyone would,â Kim said.
âWellâŠyou were like my only friend at the time. I had to hold onto you.â
âOh, is that all it was?â Kim laughed.Â
âAndâŠI guess, you were a good friend, too,â Trini said with a shrug. Kim started tickling Trini again.
âYou guess? You guess??â Kim asked as she laughed. Trini squirmed and laughed and tried to push Kimâs hands away, but Kim was using her strength to keep Trini down. âHow can you guess? I happen to be the best friend anyone could want.â
âBy murdering me with tickles?â Trini asked, trying to sound outraged, but laughing all the same.
âExactly,â Kim grinned. She stared down at Trini and got lost in it. Trini was so beautiful. Her hands slowed, as distracted as she was, and she barely noticed Trini staring back. âTrinâŠthat was the worst time of my life so farâŠand youâre the only thing that kept me going.â Her hands stilled. One rubbed up and down Triniâs arm. Trini stilled, hair caught in the corner of her mouth, and stared. Kim noticed that time. Neither said a word for a bit. They just watched each other. Kimâs heart was pounding hard in her chest. âIâm serious,â she whispered.
âYou deserved it,â Trini murmured, moving a hand through Kimâs hair. Kim did the same, pulling Triniâs hair from her lips. And then stared at her lips for a moment. When she looked back up she saw Trini staring at her with slightly widened eyes. Her lips were parted and she was breathing hard. Kim felt something between them. Like a gust of hot wind pushing them together. A magnet maybe.Â
âYou really think so?â
âOf course,â Trini replied, still stroking Kimâs hair. âYou always have.â
âTriniâŠâ Kimâs eyes closed, she couldnât help it. Triniâs fingers in her hair felt so good.Â
âKim?â Triniâs hand moved to her cheek. âAre you okay?â Kim shook her head, eyes still closed. âWhat is it?â
âIâŠdonât know,â Kim lied.
âKimâŠlook at me.â Kim did. She opened her eyes and watched Trini closely. Triniâs eyes were narrowed in thought. âWhat are you thinking right now?â Kim, always reckless, decided in the spur of the moment to just say it. What was the worst that could happen? Getting turned down by the first (only) person she had ever loved?
âIâm thinkingâŠthat I want to kiss you,â Kim whispered. She watched for any reaction on Triniâs face, but there was no visible one. Time drained slowly, thick honey going down the drain. Kim could feel her heartbeat in her head as she waited. Then Trini spoke.
âThen do it.â
âWhat?â
âKiss me,â Trini said. Kim gulped and was still a moment before she leaned closer. She paused, lips inches from Triniâs.
âYou sure?â
âYes,â Trini almost hissed. So Kim did. And it was amazing. Their lips parted and moved together seamlessly. Their tongues touched and sent a shiver down Kimâs spine. She melted on top of Trini and deepend the kiss, not wanting it to ever end. Would it be the only one sheâd get? She heard and felt Trini moan softly and it encouraged her to run her hands down Triniâs sides and grip onto her hips. They parted, just barely, and exchanged hot breaths.Â
âWow,â Kim whispered.
âKim?â
âHm?â
âKiss me again.â Trini lifted her head for their lips to connect again, but Kim pulled back.
âWait. Is thisâŠis this happening?â
âDo you not want it to?â Trini asked, hurt in her tone.
âNo,â Kim said. âI mean, I do want it to happen. ButâŠdo you?â
âWould I be asking you to kiss me if I didnât want you to kiss me?â Trini asked. Kim looked at her, and Trini looked back, her eyes impossible to read.
âIs it justâŠis this an in the moment thing? Or-orâŠâ Kim didnât know what words to use. Trini sighed. She glanced away for a moment and seemed to think about it. That didnât make Kim feel well about it. In fact, it made Kim start to panic and pull away from Trini. Trini grabbed onto her arms.
âWait.â Trini took a deep breath. âDonât make me regret saying thisâŠbutâŠno. Iâve been wanting this for a long time. I just didnât think you did.â
âI did,â Kim answered hurriedly.Â
âOh. Okay,â Trini said, relaxing back a bit. âThen whatâs wrong? Was it bad?â
âNo!â Kim answered. âThe opposite. Total opposite. I just didnât want this to be a fluke in our friendship. IâŠI love you and I canât bear it being a one time thing.â
âI love you, too, Kim,â Trini said in a small voice. âIâm with you.â
âReally?â
âReally.â
âThenâŠweâre okay?â
âOf course, Princess,â Trini said. âBut lemme say it again. Kiss me.â
âHappy to,â Kim grinned, leaning in to do just that.

âI like a challenge Darlingâ
Word Count: 5,366 Demetri x reader Oneshot Warnings: Fluff, reader being paddled, NSFW
Marcus and Demetri had a different relationship as Master and Personal Bodyguard when compared to Aro and the Twins and Caius and Felix. Marcus would quite often converse with the tracker when it was just the two of them in his private study, exchanging views of the books they have read, sharing stories from their human lives etc. This is how he came to know that Demetri had become lonely over the years as he had yet to find his mate, unlike his friend Felix who found his mate Mia a few decades back. Marcus had told him to have faith and that when the time is right, he would meet his mate and they would spend an eternity together.
So when Demetri finally met Y/N courtesy of Esme Cullen, although it was totally by accident that the two met, Marcus was happy for him and welcomed Y/N into the family with open arms. He liked her as she was respectful to him and his brothers and being human, she was curious about a lot of things including their world, their laws and this was something Marcus found endearing about her and would give her as much of his time as possible when Demetri was away so she wouldnât become bored or restless. Even Caius liked her and he hated humans. Marcus surmised this was because of her interest in their laws and how they came to power and she understood that the vampire world and the human world were better off under their rule than that of their predecessors.
Marcus was in his private study working at his desk, Demetri being his personal bodyguard was in the room sitting on the sofa reading. Marcus didnât see the point of him standing at the back of the office when he could be comfortable on the sofa reading or planning for missions. Sometimes Marcus would hide in his office just to escape the throne room and the bickering of his brothers, he always bought Demetri with him which the tracker appreciated. This was one of those occasions.
They had been in Marcusâ study for about an hour when he surprised Demetri with a request, one that related to Y/N. âDemetri, would you bring Y/N to my office please as I have a proposition for her?â Demetriâs eyebrows rose, a look of shock flashed across his and he knew Marcus saw it âDo not worry my boy, itâs nothing untoward. I promiseâ Marcus reassured him âOf course Master. When would you like to see her?â He asked âAs soon as possibleâ Marcus replied âIâll go get her now then. Sheâs in the gardenâ âVery well. Thank you Demetri.â Demetri bowed his head and left the room making his way out to the South facing garden where Y/N was reading by the fountain.
âHello mi amoreâ He said softly as he approached her, not wanting to spook her âDemetriâ She replied with a smile, one that showed she was happy to see him âHave you been let off early?â She asked, a hopeful look crossed her face âNo, sorry. Iâm here to escort you Marcusâ study as he would like to talk to youâ He replied âOh. Is it bad? Have I done something wrong?â âNot that I am aware off. Maybe he has become bored of my company and wishes for yours insteadâ He chuckled âWe both know thatâs a lie. Heâd never get bored of talking to you, you have too much in common. Iâll admit he does seem to like my company or should I say he likes to keep me company when you are away on missionsâ She replied as she slipped her hand in his, their fingers interlacing with one another. Demetri loved how warm she felt against his skin.
âGood afternoon Y/Nâ Marcus greeted her with a smile as she entered his study, Demetri right behind her âAfternoon Marcus, I trust you are wellâ She replied with a smile of her own âI am thank you and hope you are tooâ He gestured for them to sit on the sofa âIâm well too, thank you for askingâ She sat beside Demetri and placed her hand in his, Marcus noticed and smiled, seeing the strong bond between them despite the short time they had been together.
âSo you may be wondering why I asked to see you?â Y/N nodded and smiled âWell, Gianna is out sick for the week and I was hoping you might fill in for her. I know the two of you get along well and you have helped her out on occasion, when youâve needed a change of scenery for exampleâ Y/N looked at Demetri and he just smiled back at her âItâs your decision cara miaâ She looked back at Marcus and smiled âIâd love too. Be nice to do something different for a week and at least I know Iâll be safe as everyone knows Iâm Demâs mateâ She chuckled, Marcus and Demetri doing the same âThatâs very true my dear.â Y/N was in for an interesting week and she didnât even know it.
Later that night Marcus informed Aro and Caius that Y/N was covering reception for the remainder of the week in Giannaâs absence. They were pleased to hear this as the lower guard Louis, who had covered that day did not do a very good job. Caius had threatened to rip his hand off just because he could.
The following morning Demetri escorted Y/N down to reception and ensured she had everything she needed to complete the dayâs work âThank you for helping out mi amoreâ He said softly and placed a kiss to her temple âItâs no bother really. Iâve helped Gianna before and itâll be nice to be out of our room and see somewhere other than the library for a few daysâ She replied âIâll come by and see you at lunchtimeâ He kissed her lips before leaving and heading to the throne room for guard duty. âPlease gods let this week pass without incident for my belovedâ Demetri muttered low, praying to his gods.
The first two days on reception went by without any problems or incidents, something everyone was pleased with. Day three however, there was a small problem when Heidi bought the âtourâ group in. Two of the tourists started bickering and Heidi was busy sorting out the disruption and therefore didnât hear one young lady ask Y/N where the bathroom was âI donât know why they call it morning sickness when it lasts all dayâ She said to Y/N as they walked to the female bathroom. Heidi did a final headcount and noticed she was one person short âY/N I seem to have lost someoneâ She whispered âSheâs in the bathroom being sick. Sheâs pregnantâ Y/N replied and Heidiâs face paled âWait five minutes, then please escort her out the castle. Make some excuse for me otherwise Iâm in big troubleâ âLeave it with me Heidi. I had no intention of letting her re-join the âtourâ as it wouldâve gotten you into troubleâ Y/N said with a smile âYou are a star Y/N, trulyâ Heidi gave her a grateful smile âI owe you oneâ She called over her shoulder and continued on her way with the tour group to the throne room. Y/N was pleased as the young lady got to keep her life and Heidi didnât get into trouble for bringing a pregnant lady on the tour.
Day six of Y/N covering reception for Gianna was more eventful than anyone could have imagined. Demetri and Felix were in the training room with the lower and transitory guards carrying out the regular training session. Jane, Alec and Santiago were on duty in the throne room with the Kings. Y/N heard a commotion and got up from the front desk to look and saw some of the transitory guards fighting at the entrance to the castle, humans were beginning to pay attention which worried Y/N, especially as it was sunny outside.
Y/N made her way to the throne room and knocked on the door once and they opened from the inside âSorry to interrupt butâŠâ âY/N you know you arenât meant to interruptâ Aro cut her off âYes Aro, and I apologise but some of the guards are fighting at the castle entrance and humans are gathering to watch and itâs sunny outsideâ She replied quickly, hoping she wouldnât be punished as Giannaâs predecessors were. âSantiago, Josh please go and deal with the guards at the entrance. Y/N you can return to receptionâ Aro said with a smile âThank you Aroâ She smiled and bowed her head before leaving the throne room quickly.
âY/N needs to be punishedâ Caius says to his brothers âReally brother? Do you really think itâs necessary?â Aro asked âShe did interrupt despite knowing she shouldnâtâ Caius replied âShe came to warn us of a possible exposure threat and she did knock firstâ Marcus defended her actions âStill rules are rules brother. If Gianna had interrupted instead of Y/N we wouldâve punished her. We cannot play favourites just because sheâs Demetriâs mate even if she is helping out this weekâ Caius reasons âOk then. Iâll take care of her punishmentâ Marcus says as he gets up from his throne âYou? Youâre going to punish her?â Caius asked smirking âYes, Demetri is my bodyguard and Y/N is his mate. Therefore, I will handle this situationâ He replied and left the throne room.
âDemetri wonât be happyâ Alec muttered low to Jane so only she could hear âMy shift has finished so Iâll go tell him. Heâll want to know about Y/Nâ Jane whispered back.
Marcus went to reception to see Y/N âHello, my dear. I need you to come with me pleaseâ âOf course Marcus, am I in trouble?â She replied âIâll explain soon enoughâ He said and held his arm out for her to take. He led her to one of the guest rooms in the South Wing. Once inside he closes the door and explains the situation they are now in. âCaius has asked that you be punished for the interruptionâ Marcus started softly âBut I knocked first and I thought youâd want to know about a possible exposure risk, especially as it involves your guardsâ She replied âI know my dear and I pointed that out to him but he was adamant a punishment was needed. I told my brothers I would deal with your punishment as Demetri is my bodyguard and you are his mateâ âO-ok. Thank you. Does Demetri know?â She asked âJane has finished her shift and Iâm sure sheâll inform him of what has occurredâ He replied and she nodded.
âPlease can make your way over to the bed?â Marcus asked and she did as he asked. She stood at the end of the bed and felt Marcus come to stand beside her. âPlease lean over the bed with your arms outâ She did as she was instructed and felt his cold hands wrap something silky around her wrists âIâm tying you to the bed so you donât move during the punishment youâre going to receiveâ He said low as he reached over her and gently placed a silk scarf into her mouth and secured it at the back of her head âThis is to muffle your cries. Although, I ask that you donât resist or cry out as Demetri is likely to hear and the punishment will start over if itâs interrupted for anything but an emergency. Also, you must keep your eyes closed throughout. Understand?â âYes Marcusâ Her reply coming out muffled.
There was a knock at the door âI wonât be a minuteâ He told her and opened the door to see Demetri, a confused and slightly angry Demetri. He stepped into the corridor and shut the door. âCalm yourself, my dear boy. No real harm is to become herâ He advised âJane told me what happened and whilst I agree she shouldnât have disturbed you, she only did it to save us from being exposed by our guardsâ Demetri replied, worry clear in his ruby eyes âI know that and that is why I decided on her punishment and not CaiusâŠâ âWhat is her punishment?â Demetri interrupted âShe is to be paddled 40 timesâ Marcus replied âWhat? Why?â âWell I heard Y/N talking with Gianna recently about certain things and well Giannaâs been spanked by an ex in the past for âmisbehavingââ Marcus replied and Demetriâs mouth fell open a little âSo you thought Y/N should be paddled for interrupting you?â âYes, I do. Unless youâd prefer I take a leaf out of Caiusâ book?â Demetri shook his head and Marcus smiled âHereâ Marcus says and hands Demetri the small black paddle âYou want me to do it?â He asked surprised âIf youâd rather me do itâŠâ He trailed off and held his hand out âNo, no Iâll do itâ Demetri replied and went to enter the room, only Marcus stopped him âShe thinks I am going to hand out the punishment and I didnât correct her. Also, I never said you had to hit her hard, just that it has to be 40 timesâ Demetri nodded in understanding âThank you masterâ He bowed his head âOf course my boy. Do you really think I would harm her or order you to do soâ Demetri shook his head âExactly, once youâre done take her to your room and spend the afternoon together.â Marcus turned and walked away.
Demetri entered the room and locked the door, he turned and saw Y/N bent over the end of the bed and secured in place by silk scarfs; he felt himself harden a little âNo, this is punishment not pleasureâ he tells himself as he makes his way over to the bed. He doesnât say anything just lifts her dress up to her waist so her lacy covered ass is on display âGods this isnât fair. Sheâs wearing the blue set I loveâ he thought to himself. He counts to three mentally before bringing the paddle into contact with her ass softly.
âIs that a practice one?â Y/N thought to herself as the paddle hit her ass softly; the answer came to her rather quickly when the next few paddles to her ass were just as soft âMarcus must be being gentle cause Iâm human and Demâs mateâ she thought to herself as the paddle continues to hit her softly. âtwenty-fiveâ Demetri counts in his head. âwonder what Dem will think when he finds out Marcus paddled my assâ her thoughts going to her mate and his reaction. Demetri continues to hit her softly as his minds wonders too âI think next time I spank her itâll be a little harder and with my hand, just to see what effect it has on her in a different setting.â Y/N feels confused as this doesnât seem like a punishment Caius would approve of but she wasnât going to complain. âfortyâ Demetri places the paddle on the bed and unties her wrists and places a kiss to each one; a soft gasp escapes her lips and he smirks âItâs just me darlingâ He says low in her ear as he removes the scarf from her mouth âDemâ She breathed and he helped her up and held her to him âIâm hereâ He kisses the top of the head âDid youâŠâ âMarcus let me carry out your punishmentâ He cut her off âIâm sorry. I onlyâŠâ âDonât worry about it. Marcus and I have spoken and agreed your actions were for the right reasons, this was just to satisfy Caiusâ request.â
He took her hand in his and they made their back to their shared room, once inside he locked the door âHow are you feeling?â âIâm ok but next time the dumbass guards risk exposure, Iâm going to ignore itâ She replies and he nods as he pulls her into him capturing her lips in a passionate kiss. He pulls away his eyes locked on hers, his burning in his need for her. He kisses her roughly, his hands moving to her ass and he gives it a squeeze before lifting her up, her legs wrapping around his waist. âGood girlâ He says low and she gives him a sultry smile.
He placed her gently on the bed, one hand running up her thigh coming to rest on her lace covered hip. He kissed along her jawline making his way to her ear and nipped it gently, before placing a kiss below and leaving a trail of kisses down her neck, his hand stroking her through her lace covered panties âHey, Iâm not that easy Dem, take your timeâŠplay me like a violinâ She says low in his ear and he growls before replying âPlay your cards right and I may snap your G stringâ He gave a wink and continued to kiss and nip at her skin.
He pulled away long enough to remove her dress and his shirt and trousers before capturing her lips with his. She bit his lip and he opened his mouth allowing her to slip her tongue inside, their tongues moving against each other as soft moans fill the room.
âYouâre lucky I love this blue lace set youâre wearing or Iâd be ripping it to shredsâ He says as removes her bra and panties before settling himself between her thighs, his mouth closing around her clit and sucking harshly, flicking the bud with his tongue. Soft gasps fill the air and she feels his fingers dance against her skin, he growls as the scent of her arousal fills his nose, the sound vibrating against her clit, her arousal building and a soft whimper leaves her lips.
He moves up the bed, placing one hand to her cheek and kisses her lips softly as he enters her slowly, stilling for a moment âSo warm and wet just for meâ He pulls out of her a little before re-entering her slowly âAhh Demâ He moves in and out of her over and over filling her deeply with every thrust; hitting that sweet spot and she met him thrust for thrust âAhh Y/Nâ He breathed against her skin, she felt his mouth on her breast, kissing and sucking her skin leaving a mark. He continued to move within her as he took a nipple into his mouth sucking it and flicking it with his tongue. Her fingers carded through his hair and she gave it a tug; a growl escaped him before he gently nipped her breast.
He could feel his release was near but held off as he was determined for her to finish first, he needed to claim her, finally mark her as his. He kissed her neck and then sank his fangs into her skin, a light gasp left her lips as she felt him bite her. Her orgasm hit her at that moment, her eyes closing and stars flittered behind her eyelids. He continued to drink her blood, drawing out her orgasm as he released himself deep inside her. He pulled his teeth away from her neck, licking the wound closed; leaving a bite mark on her skin that would show everyone that she belonged to him.
Y/N could feel that Demetri was still hard inside her despite him climaxing moments ago âDem, youâre still hardâ She said low âItâs a vampire thing, we can go for multiple rounds without tiringâ He replied and winked at her âSo, thereâll be a round two then?â She asked before biting her bottom lip and looking at him through her lashes. âDefinitely sweetheartâ He replied as he began thrusting in and out of her again âI could stay here and make love to you all dayâ He said looking into her eyes and gave her a quick kiss âI do have the afternoon offâŠâ He trailed off and let his hand slowly move down her body, his fingers lightly brushing her folds. âAs fun as that sounds, Iâm human and I donât think I could keep up with youâ She replied low âI like a challenge darling. Letâs see how many rounds you can keep up with me for. Mmm?â He asked, his eyes darkened by lust, before capturing her lips with his, both of them moaning into the kiss.
âOk, but we have to try different positions. Switch it up a littleâ She replied, taking her bottom lip between her teeth, she felt him twitch inside her âDeal. Where would you like round two?â âOn the bed but Iâm on topâ He smiled and rolled them over âDo with me as you willâ He smiled at her, she smiled back before lifting nearly all the way off of him only to sink back down on him hard âCazzoâ He breathed out and she chuckled âThat good huh?â She lifted off of him again âYou had a great teacherâ He smirked at her as she lowered herself back down on him, his hands going to her hips âUh uh. You gave me control sweetheartâ She circled her hips over his and he growled, his hands moving to grip the bedsheets âGood boyâ She praised low and he chuckled. She leant forward to kiss him as she grinded against him and felt him hit a new spot inside her, she repeated this action as she left a trail of open-mouthed kisses along his jaw and down his neck. âAh Y/N.â She continued to move her hips over his and he felt her teeth graze his skin where his neck meets his shoulder before she sucked on the skin there eliciting a purr from him. He was smiling as he watched her rise and lower herself on his hardened length, her hips grinding against his to get the friction she needs as she nears her orgasm, âIâm so closeâ He breathed out âMe tooâ She smiled and sped up her movements, her release followed shortly after; her hips continuing to move over his and she feels him twitch inside her, his cold seed filling her once more. His eyes were closed tight as he came, his mouth open; a soft gasp escaping his lips as his grip on the sheets tightened. âGods, youâre amazingâ He praises her and sits up to hold her close, pressing a kiss to her temple âLike you said, I had a great teacherâ She whispered and he smiled against her skin.
âRound threeâ He breathed against her ear âYour choiceâ She replied and he thought for a moment âAny chance of a blow jobâŠwhilst I think of our next position?â He asked âOnly if you say pleaseâŠMr Volturiâ He growled and thrusted up into her âDemâ She cried out âAny chance of a blow job please?â âOf course Mr Volturiâ She climbed off him and moved over to sofa âComing then?â She beckoned him with a wave of her fingers. He went to sit on the sofa when she placed her hand on his stomach âYou stay standingâ She sat down on the sofa and wasted no time in taking him into her mouth; his head fell back instantly, loving the way her warm mouth felt around his cock âOh godsâ Her hands moved to his ass and gave it a squeeze as she took him further into her mouth, the tip of his cock hitting the back of her throat. She moaned around his cock; one of his hands moved to the back of her head, his fingers grabbing a hand full of hair. She ran her tongue along the underside of his cock, swirling it around the tip, licking up some of the pre-cum that had leaked out. He growled low as he felt a warm hand cup his balls, massaging them and he tugged on her hair and thrusted his hips forward ensuring he hit the back of her throat and she moaned around him. She hollowed her cheeks as she continued to suck him off and massaging his balls âSuch a good girlâ He praised her as she run her teeth along him and he twitched inside her mouth. He tugged on her hair and she stopped moving her head up and down his cock, allowing him to fuck her mouth, he moved his hips forward a few times ensuring he hit the back of her throat each time. He felt her tap his thigh and he stopped moving his hips, giving control back to her. She sucked and licked his cock a few more times before she ran her teeth over his length again and he emptied himself down the back of her throat, her swallowing everything he gave her. She licked him clean before pulling away and looking up at him. He knelt down before her and kissed her, tasting himself on her tongue. âI love you Y/Nâ âI love you too. Next position then?â
He took her hand and led her to his desk and bent her over it; and he entered her easily from behind, one hand wrapping around her throat applying a little pressure âIf you donât like this or you want to me stop, let me knowâ She nodded in response as the pressure on her throat increased a little. He thrusted in and out her setting a fast and rough pace âDemiâ She breathed out and he leant over her burying his head in the crook of her neck, slipping inside her deeper as he continues to thrust inside her, his other hand moving down to play with her clit as he applies a little more pressure to her throat âYouâre doing beautifully mi amoreâ He felt her walls flutter around him and he sped up his pace, edging them closer to their releases; the warmth of her release coaxing his own to follow. He released his hold on her throat and placed a kiss to her neck as he pulled out of her, she turned to face him smiling. One hand going to the back of his head and she pulled down for a passionate kiss.
âRound four is your choice darlingâ âWell, Mr Volturi before round four Iâd like you to get on your knees and return the favour. Pleaseâ He smiled wide âAnything for you.â Demetri sat her on his desk and lowered himself to his knees in front of her and buried his head between her thighs, inhaled slightly taking in the scent of her arousal and growled low. He looked up at her to see her looking down at him, his ruby eyes had darkened further due to his continued arousal. He gently lifted one leg over his shoulder before lowering his head and sucking on her clit, flicking the bundle of nerves with his tongue. She leaned back slightly and gripped the edge of his desk as he placed a hand on her stomach keeping her in place before he gently pushed her other leg away from him, giving him better access to where she needed him most. He continuing to suck and flick her clit with his tongue, her soft moans being the only sound in the room. He smiled against her knowing he was the only one who could elicit that reaction from her. He moved his head lower and she felt his tongue enter her, she gasped and one of her hands moved to his head and she threaded her fingers through his hair before tugging on the strands, eliciting a growl from him. She felt his growl vibrate against her âDemâ She breathed out, he growled again and she felt a knot form inside her; she tried moving her hips to get the friction she craved but his hand still held her in place. He withdrew his tongue from inside her and closed his mouth back around her clit, sucking harsher than before; his tongue flicking her bud. She felt him slip two fingers inside her, curling and uncurling them so they brushed her inner walls a few times. He uncurled his fingers and moved them deeper inside her, hitting her sweet spot; his fingers and tongue working together to bring her to climax. âAhhâŠDemâ She breathed out as she came hard, her eyelids half closed. He withdrew his fingers and put them into his mouth âMmm. I love the taste of you babyâ He smiled looking up at her through his lashes âI love you Demiâ âI love you too.â
He stood up and surprised her when he lifted her over his shoulder and made his way to their walk-in closet and set her down on her feet before he pinned her against the wall. He captured her lips with his in a heated kiss and nipped at her bottom lip and she whimpered allowing him to slip his tongue inside her mouth and dominate the kiss. He lifted her up into his arms, her legs wrapping around his waist and she could feel his cold hard length pressing against her entrance and with one slow thrust he entered her easily âFuckâŠbabyâ He growled in her ear, he didnât give her time to adjust to him, he just began to thrust in and out of her at a steady pace; her legs closed tighter around his waist and she grinded against him; he slid in deeper hitting that sweet spot inside âOh yesâ She cried out, her nails scratching lightly across his back and he growled and thrusted up into her harder. He kissed and sucked his way up and down her neck, nibbling her earlobe and she felt him smile against her neck with each moan of pleasure he coaxed from her. His thrusts sped up chasing his release as he felt her walls flutter around his cock; he bit her neck for the second time that afternoon and took a few gulps of her blood and she screamed out in pleasure as her orgasm hit her hard, stars dancing behind her eyes. The warmth of her release pulled him over the edge and he emptied himself inside her; continuing to move inside her with slow, long stokes as they rode out their highs together. He licked the wound closed and kissed his bite mark, he captured her lips in a slow sensuous kiss, she opened her mouth to him and he slipped his tongue inside, their togues moving in sync with one another.
âI love how you feel inside meâ She whispered when he pulled back to allow her to breathe âI love how warm you feel wrapped around meâ He replied before kissing her again. He walked backwards to the loveseat in the corner and sat down with her still in his arms, staying buried inside her for a little longer. He wrapped his arms around her holding her to his chest as she wrapped hers around him. She buried her head into his neck as he laid his on her shoulder, both enjoying their after-sex cuddle. Â
Y/N was totally exhausted once Demetri had finally finished making love to her and he noticed her heartrate and breathing had slowed. She was supersensitive now and knew she was likely to be a little sore in the morning but didnât mind as she had enjoyed every minute of being with her mate.
He carried her to the bathroom and set her down on the counter and run a sink full of water using some of her favourite bubble bath and washed her gently with a warm cloth. He then cleaned himself up before carrying her over to their bed, placing her gently beneath the duvet. He crawled in beside her and pulled her into his arms once again and held her as she fell asleep, breathing in her scent. He smiled to himself as he thought about the sexy afternoon they had just spent together, impressed that she had kept up with him for six rounds of amazing sex. âmy amazing little humanâ he thought and tightened his hold her, placing a kiss to her hair âI love you darlingâ He whispered and closed his eyes, resting beside his mate. âNormally, I wouldn't bother. But favors are favors.â
âI didn't say I was happy about it.â
âYou are looking ravishing this evening.â
âVery good. Someone's been teaching you. Well done.â
âPerhaps we should all make ourselves comfortable, and we'll talk.â
âDoes anybody talk to birds? Is that a thing we can do?â
âWhat's the meaning of this?â
âGet the guns out, please, but no one fire until I say so.â
âWe don't waste time on bullshit.â
âThis is going to go badly very fast. Time to go.â
âSit down and don't move.â
âIf you want to run, you should run now.â
âThe party's back on! I got to go dance.â
âI've always wanted to do this.â
âLet go of my fucking arm.â
âWho are you going to use the gun against?â
âYou're a MILF, if it helps.â
âBooyah! Booyah!â
âLook, I'm sorry, but I told you.â
â[Name], what are you doing here?â
âWho are you and what the hell is going on?â
âThis is so messed up. This can't be happening.â
âThat's future [name]'s problem.â
âSo, uh, that happened, and now I have two guys pointing guns at me.â
âThe only safe way is straight ahead.â
âOh shit, this guy's a problem!â
âUnfortunately, you're not in a place to fight back.â
âI need you to come back here and sit that fine ass right back down.â
âYou're making it weird.â
âPlease. Just sit this one out. I promise that nothing will happen to you and I will help deal with the consequences afterwards. Just sit down.â
âShit, oh my god, what's happening?â
âDon't ever say that again.â
âWe're a great team, we should go on the road.â
âThen it's death.â
âWhat could go wrong? No negative repercussions to this.â
âThey're trying to kill us. That's a big detail. Don't try and gloss over that.â
âLet's just get out of here, and we'll- We'll worry about it when we get out.â
â[Name]! [Name]! [Name], [name], [name], [name], [name]!â
âLet's dance.â
âGoing to have to do better than that, kid.â
âYou're not so fucking tough now, are you?â
âTake that! Take that, you ugly fuck!â
âOkay. Tried to talk, that's not working.â
âNo. We're not done talking.â
âGo before I change my mind.â
âI think- I think Iâm going to be sick.â
[gagging]
âYou have one chance to save yourself here. Drop your weapons.â
âYou really want to talk about this now?â
[worried squeak]
âCan I have a hug?â
âEvery time I get close to somebody, just, like- bullshit happens.â
âThat's fine! We can work with bullshit! Right? You can mold it into things, make little statues... They'll smell bad, but you could- You could collect them--â
[mixed sobs and laughter]
âI know that I- I'll probably just make more trouble.â
âThankfully, nothing important caught fire.â
âI've been doing some stuff. Earning money. A little dealing, a little larceny.â
âLook, you got no room to talk. Look- look at your life.â
âI didn't really know what would happen, I just... I wanted to hurt you.â
âLook, [name], our family is totally screwed up.â
âIt's never too late to make it right.â
âI got to get you out of this mess.â
âThis is the weirdest night in my life.â
âThe plan was pretty vague.â
âCan't be compelled to testify if you don't know.â
âAlso, rethink your life, man.â
âYou know, I was just about to say something nice to you.â
âI think youâre losing track of the macro theme here.â
âI thought we were friends.â
âLike, there's just a lot of things I don't know.â
âSo now, I need a reason not to murder you.â
âYeah, you don't look so good.â
âThere's no good choices here.â
âThere's no good choices here, but there's less bad ones.â
âOur way? Not only do you get to live, you get paid.â
âI mean, whew. You've been through a lot.â
âI learned a long time ago not to judge people by their appearances.â
âThat's not cool. Please don't do that again.â
âIt's never enough.â
âI can't do it. Â I can't do that.â
âWho are you talking to?â
âTime to talk.â
âI now know horrible things about you.â
âHow do you suggest I repay you for your inconvenience?â
âAh, [name], good to see you again. Â Glad you're unhurt.â
âWe're friends. Pals. And maybe sex stuff? It's unclear.â
âChaos is a ladder.â
âJust be safe.â
âIt's fine. It's fine. Â It's fine.â
âIs this what you wanted?â
âNothing is easy. It's a complicated world.â
âIt's possible to be a good person in a complicated world. I believe that.â
âWe may have to do some things that you're really not going to like.â

In Which Each of Bruceâs Kids Come Out to Him
and then he comes out to them
Dick
Theyâre working on opposite sides of the coffee table in one of the manorâs more habitable sitting roomâs. Itâs become a regular part of their weekday routine: Bruce finishes up whatever office work he has to do, while Dick does his homework, and talks about his day. Usually there are snacks involved. A parenting book Bruce had read recommended trying to get their work done together. Itâs a good way to keep connected with their increasingly busy schedules.
âSo anywaysâŠâ Dickâs story is starting to slow down a little bit, and the shift in tone has Bruce glancing up from his paperwork. âI should probably tell you, since, well, everyone knows at school now.â His voice is still conversational, and relaxed, but a little distracted.
Bruce shifts him his full attention.
âSee, what happened was Cameron Josephs in my third period biology class came to school with nail polish on today, which I noticed with my clever detective skills, and promptly dismissed as unimportant, and everyone else noticed with their nosy pre-teen skills, and promptly lost their shi- I mean, minds over. And that was Mrs. Hortonâs class, and she has absolutely no control over her students, so it sort of became this whole big thing. Kids were making fun of him, and other kids were yelling at them to knock it off, and he was just trying to do his work, but the rest of the class got into a big fight. And then Brad Cormick- heâs on my basketball team- made a homophobic joke, and we were sitting at the same table, and I could tell that he wanted me to laugh at it. So I told him to shut up, and said that I was bisexual, not that any of it really had anything to do with anything else that was going on, but it did get him to shut up, which was good. Except that I think it may have been because I have more friends than Cameron does, which is totally unfair, and everyone should just be nice to everyone else no matter what, but also I guess not really the point⊠The point is, yeah, Iâm bi. Oh, also frog dissection got moved to tomorrow because one kid threw up.â
Dick takes a deep breath (finally) and a long sip of his juice, before immediately returning to doodling athletic stick figures in the margins of his algebra homework.
Bruce studies him for a moment, trying to figure out what kind of response is expected of him, what would be helpful for Dick to hear. Heâs really not very good at this kind of thing.
Heâs saved from the risk of putting his foot in his mouth when the science class story continues.
âAre frogs really that gross? I donât think they are. But I guess our basement is filled with guano, so maybe my tolerance is heightened by regular exposure to the substance most frequently equated with insanity.â
Dick hadnât seemed nervous before coming out, or relieved after. And if heâs not going to make it into a big deal then neither is Bruce, even if a part of him feels pleasantly warmed by the casual show of trust.
Jason
Bruce loves picking up his kids from school. Itâs not something that his schedule allows him to do very often, and Jason- as Dick had been before him- always seems pleasantly surprised to see him. Itâs a little thing in the grand scheme, but itâs just nice, normal. And he would never say it out loud- heâs not sure why, he knows he should- but he cherishes the little bit of extra time spent with his boys.
But today Jason isnât happy to see him.
Bruce pulls up to the curb, and only has to scan the crowd of teenagers for a few seconds before spotting him. Heâs on a bench with another student, their shoulders pressed together despite wide swaths of free space available on either side of them. Jasonâs pointing out something in a textbook, while the other boy plays with his free hand.
Bruce pulls slightly to the side to let another car drive around him, figuring heâll give Jason a few minutes to finish up, and notice that Bruce is there, rather than call out and risk embarrassing him.
Itâs not even a full minute before they make eye contact across the lot, and immediately something in Jasonâs expression changes. His eyes go wide and startled, his posture suddenly tightened. In one fast motion he shuts his book with both hands, muttering something to his friend as he practically throws himself off the bench.
Now feeling on high alert, Bruce sweeps an intense gaze over the school yard for anything that could have upset his son. He doesnât manage to spot anything before Jason arrives at the car and pulls himself into the backseat (where he never sits, unless the front is already occupied). He starts talking before Bruce can ask whatâs wrong.
âThat wasnât what it looked like!â
Bruce frowns, and looks over both Jason and the area in front of the school in an attempt to identify something that isnât like how it looks.
âHe just-â Jason flinches, seemingly realizing something wrong with whatever heâd been about to say, and cuts himself off with a sharp breath. âI mean-â
Feeling lost is by no means a new part of parenthood for Bruce, and heâs sure itâs something heâll experience many more times going forward. But, god, he really hates not understanding whatâs going on, not knowing what to do, and he doubts that heâll ever get used to it.
âJason,â he tries. âSlow down.â
âYes, sir,â Jason answers automatically. âSorry.â
Itâs been over a year since Jasonâs called him âsirâ and the sudden reintroduction of the honorific sends a cold chill down Bruceâs spine. For a second they just stare at each other, with what Bruce is pretty sure are matching expressions of partially concealed horror.
âJason,â he says more quietly.
âI know,â Jason interrupts. âIâm sorry. Please-â He stops himself, covering his mouth before he can finish the thought, and then just as quickly lowering the hand back to his lap.
Another silence follows, short but harrowing. Then finally Bruce makes a rare admission
âI have no idea whatâs happening right now.â
Jason stares at him, and the wider his eyes get the younger he looks, and the more Bruce wants to scoop him up into his arms. But he just waits, and tries not to look too expectant.
âI-I was holding hands with Derek,â Jason breaths out.
ââŠAlright?â Heâs heard that name before. Jason doesnât have as many friends at school as Dick had, so theyâre a little easier to keep track of, even if Bruce has only ever met any of them in passing. âIs this someone youâre worried Iâll embarrass you in front of?â He asks after a brief pause.
Jason keeps staring at him, expression crinkling as his breathing grows erratic.
Bruce finds himself automatically exaggerating his own inhales and exhales, resting the side of one hand against his sternum, to remind Jason of some of their breathing exercises.
âThatâs it, chum,â he says as he sees it slowly begin to work. âEverythingâs okay.â For all he knows- or doesnât know- right now it might not even be true, but dammit for his kid he will make everything okay.
âEverythingâs okay,â Jason obediently echoes.
Bruce takes his hand off his chest, and starts to reach towards him. But Jason flinches away from him, not as violently as he had back when they were still new to each othersâ lives, but itâs enough to make Bruce feel sick. He can practically feel the wrongness of it squeezing his heart into shards as he slowly withdraws his arm back into the front seat. He had truly thought that they had gotten past this.
âIâm sorry, Jay,â he says softly, a small concession to the part of himself that wants to beg his sonâs forgiveness for whatever heâs done to make him afraid. âIâm so sorry.â
Jasonâs not looking at him anymore. His head is down, and his gaze is fixed on his knees.
Bruce hesitates.
âIâll never hurt you.â Itâs a reassurance he had thought they were past the point of needing, but if they arenât heâll say it as many times as he has to. âNever.â
âAre you mad?â
âIs there something particular that Iâm supposed to be mad about?â Bruce asks carefully.
â... That I was holding hands with a guy,â Jason elaborates, after a steadying breath.
Oh, Bruce is an idiot. What kind of detective is he if he canât even- He cuts himself off, realizing he canât wait too long to respond to that.
âOf course not. Thatâs what this is about?â
âI never meant for you to find out,â is the response he gets. And doesnât that just hurt like hell to hear?
âThat you like boys?â Bruce confirms.
âAnd girls, both. But I didnât know what youâd think, so I figured if I couldnât be sure it was better to keep it to myself.â
Bruce closes his eyes, taking a second to calm his own breathing.
âI never want you to feel like that,â he says. âAbout anything. Iâm sorry I didnât make that clear. I love you, Jaylad, that isnât contingent on anything.â
I wish I could have protected you from whatever it was that made you feel like this was something you had to hide. He doesnât say it.
Jason is finally looking at him again, gaze thoughtful and careful. A long moment passes, before he surprises- and momentarily terrifies- Bruce by getting out of the car. But before he can react to that, Jasonâs climbing into the passenger seat, and after a second of hesitation, leaning into Bruceâs side.
âOkay,â he says quietly, sounding a little choked up.
Bruce puts an arm around his shoulders. The closeness is a balm after the pain of having his son flinch away from him.
Tim
Tim isnât supposed to come over today. His parents are in town, and Bruce had made a point of hiding his reluctance when heâd given Robin the week off, chastising himself for the empty nest syndrome he has no right to be experiencing- at least in regards to this particular child.
So heâs surprised when he hears Alfredâs throat clear, and looks up to see both Alfred and Tim lingering in the doorway to his office. It would be odd to see him here at this time of day even if they had been planning to go on patrol; sunset is still a few hours off.
Bruce immediately has a bad feeling. He knows itâs commonplace for the Drakes to disappear unexpectedly partway through whatever length of time they were meant to be spending at home. As Batman itâs made his life easier numerous times. As a parent itâs beyond his comprehension. If he still had his boys at home- but he canât think about that, not without breaking down, and if Timâs just been abandoned thatâs the last thing he needs.
As he approaches the door, Alfredâs pointed look, and Timâs vacant expression confirm that heâs right to be concerned.
âTim.â He keeps his voice neutral. âI wasnât expecting to see you today.â
He picks up on Alfredâs glare a fraction of a second too late to realize that heâs said the wrong thing.
âIâm sorry.â Thereâs something miserable in Timâs voice, that makes Bruce want to bundle him up in a blanket. Before he can assure him that he has nothing to apologize for, Alfred cuts in.
âI told Master Tim that heâs welcome to stay with us for as long as he needs.â
Bruce nods automatically, looking down at Tim, whoâs glassy expression looks a million miles away.
âTim,â he says gently, eventually drawing the boyâs gaze, but feeling disconcerted by how delayed the response is.
Alfred leaves with a comment about putting a kettle on for tea, closing the door firmly but softly behind him. The sound it makes as it pulls all the way shut still makes Tim twitch.
âDo you want to sit down?â Bruce offers.
Tim stumbles a bit on his way to the couch. Heâs so out of it; He wonât be patrolling tonight, even if his scheduleâs suddenly open for it. Bruce sits down on the other side.
âAre they gone again?â He asks, trusting fully that the vaguely worded question will be completely understood.
Thereâs a worrying delay before Tim shakes his head, giving Bruce ample time to wish for Alfred back before he can register the response enough to be surprised by it.
âSo...â he begins uncertainly, before being cut off.
âIâm sorry,â Tim says again. âI donât mean to be a bother.â
âYou arenât a bother, Tim.â
The- admittedly somewhat monotone- assurance just gets him a shrug.
âCan you tell me what happened?â He tries.
âDo I have to?â Tim asks after a long silence. âCanât I just stay here?â
Bruce frowns.
âOf course you can stay here. But I think I really need to know whatâs going on.â
Tim stares at him, eyes shining, mouth opening and closing several times before he speaks.
âCan I- Alfred says I can tell you something, and you wonât get mad?â
âWell, that depends on what it is,â Bruce says, thinking back on every time a robin has had something to tell him, but first wanted confirmation that he wouldnât be angry.
Tim seems to shrink at his words, his breath catching audibly as he curls in on himself. Fuck, Bruce is bad at this.
âWhat do you have to tell me?â He asks.
âWell now I donât know if I want to!â It almost comes out as a yell, strained by the sound of held back tears, and Bruce is a little taken aback.
âIâll probably find out at some point,â he reasons.
Thereâs a beat of silence, and then Tim chokes on something that sounds like a suppressed sob.
No, no, no no. This isnât supposed to happen. Bruce reaches out for him in an awkward and hastily aborted movement.
âI canât,â Tim says after a minutes, tears streaking over his pale cheeks. âIf you donât-â His voice catches. âI need you to let me stay here.â
Bruceâs heart hurts as he scooches a little closer, reaching out to rest a hand- hopefully not too awkwardly- on Timâs shoulder.
âOf course you can stay here,â he reiterates. âI told you you could stay here. Even if Iâm mad at you you can stay here. If you-â He searches for a moment. â-Took the batmobile out on a joyride, and drove it into the harbor, Iâll be mad at you, but youâll still have a place here. One will never have anything to do with the other.â
Tim makes a noise thatâs over too quickly for Bruce to be able to tell if it had been a laugh, or just more crying.
âDid Jason do that?â He asks in a hoarse voice.
âDick,â Bruce corrects.
This time Tim definitely snorts, which has Bruce smiling in spite of himself.
âDid you do something worse than that?â He asks.
Itâs meant to be a joke, but Tim makes an unhappy face at the question.
âI- no!â He says, defensive, but confident. âI didnât do anything wrong!â
Bruce gives his shoulder a squeeze before releasing it.
âThen why would I be mad at you?â
The humor that had begun to make its way into Timâs expression disappears again, and Bruce curses himself.
âMom and Dad were mad,â he says quietly.
Bruce scowls. He tries pretty hard not to let his dislike of Jack and Janet show around Tim- though heâs long suspected the young detective can tell- but itâs harder to hide sometimes than others.
âYou said they were still home,â he remembers. âTim, did they kick you out?â He does his best to keep the anger out of his voice.
And then he finds himself doing his best to keep the anger off of his face when it takes Tim a moment to answer the question.
âI donât think forever,â he says uncertainly. âJust- They said they needed time to think about it, to d-decide what to do.â
The slight stutter puts him over the age, and fury starts to trickle into Bruceâs voice.
âTo think about what?â He demands. Hell, that place is more Timâs home than it is theirs. They have absolutely no right to ask him to leave! And where the hell do they expect him to go? Bruce forces himself to clench his jaw, and take deep breaths.
â...Iâm gay,â Tim finally says.
Bruce stares at him for the second that it takes for the words to register, and connect back to the rest of the conversation.
âThatâs it?â
Heâs wincing at himself before the question is all the way out of his mouth, immediately convinced that heâs said the wrong thing again. But then, to his immense relief, he realizes that Tim has started laughing. It isnât deep, or sustained. His voice is still a little weak, and his eyes are still a little red. But heâs definitely laughing, and Bruce realizes vaguely that a robin laughing is still his favorite sound in the world.
âThatâs it,â Tim confirms, on the tail end of his laugh.
âOh, Tim.â
Bruce doesnât give himself a chance to second guess the motion before he pulls the boy into a hug, satisfied that it was the right course of action when he feels Tim melt against him.
âOf course Iâm not mad, of course Iâm not mad,â he repeats like a mantra. âIâm sorry I let you think I would be. Youâre right, you didnât do anything wrong.â
A few seconds pass, and he realizes thereâs a wet patch at his shoulder where Timâs face is buried. Bruce freezes, totally unsure of what heâs done wrong this time.
âIâm sorry,â Tim breaths out. âI- thank you. Thank you! I donât know what I would have done if- I- I donât want to be alone!â
âNot alone,â Bruce promises. âYouâre not alone. Itâs okay. Youâre going to be okay.â
Tim presses closer, and Bruce takes it as a cue to tighten his hold.
Alfred finds them like that a few minutes later, Tim curled up in his arms, while Bruce cycles through reassurances. The look they exchange is enough to confirm that theyâre both thinking the same thing: this kid is ours.
Cass
One day Cass hangs a little pride flag up on her door. Later in the week when she catches Bruce glancing at it, she comes up to him, gives the flag a meaningful nod, before just saying, âGirls!â in a happy voice, giving him a hug, and disappearing down the hall.
Damian
Bruce can identify every member of his family by their knock, but Damianâs is particularly distinctive. Not just because it tends to come from a lower part of the door, but because Damian has cultivated a strong knock, the way businessmen cultivate a strong handshake. Itâs a very confident and determined sound, that he often finds himself stifling a smile at, knowing that that isnât at all the intended reaction.
âCome in,â he calls, and thereâs no pause before Damian strides into his office, confident as ever. When he speaks however, the undercurrents of his voice tell a different story.
âFather, there is something I wish to discuss with you.â There are a few hesitations, that donât quite manage to turn into stutters in his voice, ones itâs unlikely anyone outside of their family would notice.
Bruce doesnât comment on them, just nods for Damian to sit down and continue.
His legs donât fully reach the floor. Something else that Bruce has learned not to let himself smile at.
âGrayson saysâŠâ he begins confidently, before trailing off.
Bruce just raises an eyebrow for him to continue, not feeling like he has enough information to put anything together from at the moment.
âRichard says,â Damian continues more carefully. âHe came out to you as bisexual when he was around my age?â
Bruce nods. He has a feeling that he knows where this is going this time.
âHe did.â
âHe said that you were okay with it?â
Bruce nods again.
âDick is my son. My love for him isnât conditional, certainly not on that. Thereâs nothing wrong with not being straight.â
Damian had broached the topic using Dick as a proxy, so Bruce had followed his lead and assumed that Damian would know to automatically apply the assurance to himself. But Damianâs face just falls into a puzzled frown.
âSo whyâŠâ he begins, before changing track. âRichard isnât your biological son.â
Bruce frowns back.
âDamian, you know that doesnât make a difference to me. I donât love your siblings any less because theyâre not-â
âI know,â Damian cuts in. âIt isnât about loving us differently.â He says it very matter of factly. âI have the ability to carry on your bloodline, whereas they do not.â
âThat ability isnât an obligation,â Bruce says, wondering why his kids never seem to be able to just worry about normal things. âAnd itâs certainly not something that you need to be thinking about at thirteen years old.â
Damian nods slowly, staring down at the desk with a look of intense concentration, before slowly raising his gaze to Bruce.
âMother and Grandfather said that you wouldnât like it, if I wasnât interested in girls,â he says quietly.
Bruce sighs. of-fucking-course they did. He gets up from his chair, and moves around the desk to kneel in front of Damian.
âWell theyâre wrong,â he says simply. âAnd they had no right to lead you to believe that it would make any difference to me. Just like I donât love your siblings any less, my love for you is no more conditional. Understand?â
It takes a moment, but Damian nods.
âAll right. In which case, I suppose... Iâm gay.â
âAnd Iâm proud of you,â Bruce says, before pulling his son into a hug.
Bruce
Bruce looks at his assembled family, and begins to feel a strange sense of trepidation tickling at the edge of his consciousness.
Theyâre all here. Trying to get the whole family together all at once is like pulling teeth. But he told them it was important, and they all came. There have been plenty of points over the course of the years when that wouldnât have happened. And even though theyâve all been pretty settled with each other for a while now, he never wants to take for granted having his whole family together- not that he thinks the part of him that only seems to settle when he has all of his children within armâs reach would let him.
The comfort of having them all be together is overwhelming, but the trepidation is still there, just like it probably always will be any time he manages to round up the courage for anything resembling feelings talk.
Theyâre all in one of the living rooms, sprawled in a comfortable half circle across various couches and chairs.
âThereâs something I wanted to tell you all,â Bruce starts to say.
âAre you dying?â Stephanie asks casually.
Beside her, Cass freezes, looking horrified.
âIâm not dying,â Bruce says quickly.
At the same time Steph rubs a hand up and down Cassâs arm and assures her she was kidding.
âNot like heâd tell us if he was,â Dick says.
He knows itâs meant to be a joke, just like Stephanieâs question had been, but it still sends a chill through him. Mostly because he canât say for sure that Dick is totally wrong; itâs the kind of thing he easily could have kept to himself. But then he sees the uncertain frown that Damian is giving him, and Cassâs wide, anxious eyes, and decides that he has to be wrong.
âIâm not dying,â he repeats, reaching out for Tim whoâs sitting closest to him, and whoâs been staring very intently at the floor since the topic came up.
Tim leans into the touch without shifting his position.
âAnd I would tell you,â he adds seriously, feeling absolutely wracked with guilt over the fact that up until this moment he doesnât know if he wouldâve been able to claim that with any certainty.
âI swear, if thereâs anything wrong with me, all of you will know as soon as possible.â By the time it comes out of his mouth, he knows he means it with total certainty.
âI think weâre all pretty tuned into the fact that thereâs something wrong with you,â Jason offers, and the tension in the room breaks.
Bruce smiles despite himself. That was agonizing. Compared to that getting on with the conversation heâd previously been so apprehensive to have will be a relief.
âWhat did you want to tell us?â Duke asks.
âIt can be⊠difficult for me to articulate what it means to me whenever one of you trusts me enough to share something about yourself. I thought that I owed it to all of you to return the favor, and share a⊠recent discovery of mine.â He stumbles through it as awkwardly as heâd expected to.
âThis is weird,â Stephanie stage whispers.
âIâm bisexual,â Bruce admits.
âBruce!â Dick says excitedly.
âUnacceptable,â Jason cuts in. âWe already have enough of that nonsense in this house!â
Tim kicks him in the side.
âWell, seeing as itâs an option, I for one prefer the idea of you pursuing romantic entanglements that bear no risk of resulting in pregnancy.â
âNoted, Damian.â
âIâm happy for you, B,â Tim says. âIt can be hard figuring yourself out.â
âThank you, Tim.â
âIs that it?â Duke asks. âI mean, not that itâs not a big deal- and Iâm happy for you too by the way- itâs just that most of our family meetings involve addressing some kind of crisis.â
âThatâs it,â Bruce admits.
âPerhaps- seeing as weâre all here anyways- we could take this opportunity to have dinner together as a family for once,â Alfred offers.

Home for the Holidays | Robert Pronge (aka Mr. Freezy) x reader
summary: robert is tired of pretending to be normal, heâs tired of the shitty holiday known as christmas and heâs really fucking tired of watching his adorable, innocent next door neighbor without getting a real taste. luckily, he has a plan to solve all three of these things.
word count: a bit over 5k
warnings: smut (noncon, vaginal and anal), gunplay, bondage, stalking, kidnapping, slight-to-medium breeding kink, innocent!reader, lots of degradation, blood mention, pain kink, spitting, implied age gap (??? kinda), cringy and disturbing dirty talk, maaaaybe the darkest thing Iâve ever written⊠proceed with extreme caution
Robert hated the holidays. The fact that it was too cold to sell ice cream was a factor, sure, but he didnât like anything else about them eitherâ the cheesy music, the stupid advertisements on TV, the gaudy decorations everywhere⊠he wasnât sure if there was anything he liked about this time of year. Getting gifts would be nice if he actually had any friends or family to do that with. Giving gifts sounded like too much fucking work anyway. He was sick and tired of this stupid holiday and the way it started sooner every year, too. Â
This year, when he heard Jingle Bell Rock on the radio for the first time of the season, something snapped. He wasnât going to just sit idly by and let the holidays come and go. He wasnât going to avoid and half-tolerate all the dreaded âcheerâ and âspiritâ like he had for the past few years. No no, this year was going to be different.
This year, he was going to get a Christmas present for himself: you.
Heâd been watching you for a long time, since the day you moved in next door. It wasnât often that a young woman lived alone around here, and for good reason. Still, you had this air of blissful ignorance about youâ you never caught him spying on you, for one, and when he was spying you were always off in your own little world, listening to your records, daydreaming about god-knows-what. He wished he could know, because he figured it was something innocent and wholesome. Â
You werenât all innocent and wholesome, though. Heâd seen you doing the things you did when you were totally alone (or at least, you thought you were), late at night, cuddled up under the coversâŠ
He wanted to see more, though. He wanted to see everything. And he was tired of waiting.
He was on his porch when you came home, and he waved; you waved back, your hands obscured by big fuzzy mittens. Damn did he miss the summers, when you would wear tank tops and short shorts and wash your car in the sunlight. Now you were all bundled up in coats and scarves, and even though you looked sort of adorable like this, he missed that perfect body he knew you were hiding under there. Â
You were bringing groceries in from the car, and he could see you had a few bags in the backseat. âThatâs a lot to carry, lemme help you,â he offered as he jumped up from his seat and walked towards you.
âOh, itâs fine, Iâve got it,â you dismissed, but you started to stumble and he had to catch you so you wouldnât fall and drop your stuff. âThanks,â you mumbled awkwardly as you caught your footingâ you felt so good in his arms he could barely stand it. Â
âWhat is all this?â he asked as he glanced into the bags.
âOh, uh, just Christmas stuff,â you explained. He furrowed his brow as he saw you had bought enough food to feed a whole family. Â
âYour folks cominâ into town or something?â he pressed, pulling one of the paper bags open to see inside. âOr are you hosting a party I didnât get invited to?â
âUh, neither,â you laughed, âmy family doesnât⊠no, theyâre not coming. And thereâs no party. I just love cooking Christmas food and I thought, why not? I mean, Iâll freeze whatever I canât finish and have meals for the next monthâŠâ
âSo youâre gonna make this whole ham just for yourself?â he clarified, admiring your ambition.
âYep!â you grinned. âI know itâs stupid, but I just love Christmas and I donât think I need to justify celebrating it to a grinch like you.â
âA grinch? Says who?â
âFreezy, youâre the only house on the block that hasnât put up lights yet,â you smirked. âItâs sort of obvious you donât like this time of year.â
âAre you kidding? I love Christmas! Iâm just subtle about it, thatâs all,â he decided sternly.
âReally? Are you going to see anyone for the holidays then?â you pressed.
âUh, no, Iâm sort of an⊠orphan, I guess you could say. No parents or siblings or anything like that.â
âNo girlfriend?â you grinned, elbowing him playfully. Â
âI donât have a girlfriend,â he laughed, âI just know a few women who would be really mad if they heard me say that.â
âYouâre such a dog,â you rolled your eyes. âWill you help me carry these in or not?â
He sighed as he picked up two bags and carried them up to your porch, pushing the door open with his back to set them on your counters. Heâd been inside your place a few timesâ mostly with you there, a few times when you werenâtâ and he noticed how much youâd changed in the spirit of the season: an enormous, real pine covered in lights and ribbons; decorative ceramic figures all over the place including Santa, elves, reindeer, and even a nativity on the dining table; stockings on the mantle, god knows who those were even for.Â
You had literally decked your halls with boughs of holly. Â
âDamn, woman, you went all out!â he observed with wide eyes.
âWell, I thought it would be nice,â you smiled, although it was a somber smile, âyou know, Christmas like it used to beâŠâ you trailed off as your gaze became distant. You snapped back to reality with a little sigh, shaking it off and heading back to the car for another load of bags. He understood that emptiness he saw in your eyes, it was all he felt anymore. Maybe you could change that for him; maybe he could change that for you.
Aw, who was he kidding? He didnât care about that. He just wanted to figure out what you were hiding underneath those puffy winter clothes. If the smell of your stolen panties was anything to go by, it was going to be worth the wait.
//
Christmas Eve was just as boring and cold as any other day, except that it was filled with a riveting anticipation. That was probably true for most people, but for Robert it was for something much more exciting than presents under the tree. Â
Nightfall came early, it being winter and all, so it was already pitch dark outside when it was just about time for him to go over for dinner. He considered smashing a window to get in, but then you might call the cops before he had time to explain, so he decided the easier method was just to knock on the front door. He didnât really care who saw at this pointâ besides, whoâd be staring out their window to spy on their neighbors the night before Christmas? Aside from Robert, that is.
âOh!â you gasped when you answered the door. The dark red turtleneck looked even better on you up close, like youâd jumped right out of a Norman Rockwell postcardâ or a festive pin-up. He didnât wait for your approval before stepping in and shutting the door behind him, relishing the adorable look you wore as you stared up at him with the perfect mix of confusion and concern.
âI know you didnât invite me,â he smirked, âbut I figure two people alone on Christmas ought to be together, donât you think?â
âRobert, Iââ
He pulled his gun out from his belt, watching you freeze as he pointed it at you.
âI think you should start making dinner, sweetheart,â he instructed darkly. You nodded quickly, walking to the kitchen as he followed you closely. âWhat are you making?â
âH-ham,â you stuttered nervously as you turned on the stove before slipping on a cute little apron with white lace around the edges. âWith green bean casserole, and some gingerbread for dessert.â
âSounds delicious,â he grinned, taking a seat at the bar and keeping his gun pointed towards you. Â
Your hands were shaking as you tried to chop the ingredients, and he tutted a little in sympathy. âDonât be scared, honey, âm not gonna hurt ya. Itâs gonna be a great Christmasâ just like the way it used to be, huh?â
âY-yeah,â you shivered, lip quivering, âI⊠I wish you just wouldâve asked if you could have some dinner, Robert, I wouldâve happily had you.â
âOh, youâre gonna have me either way. Up to you if you wanna be happy about it.â
He laughed as he watched your eyes start to water, a meek little sniffleÂ
âAw, donât cry, pretty baby,â he cooed, âitâll make me wanna skip right to the good stuff. But, letâs just have dinner first.â
You stayed quiet after that, cooking in silence as he unabashedly undressed you with his eyes. You looked like a perfect little housewife in that apron; he wanted to see you wearing just that, so he could bend you over the counter andâÂ
Damn, he was already hard, just like that. Youâd always had such an effect on him.
He went ahead and took a seat at the table once you were nearly done with the meal, leaning back to let you drape the fancy napkin over his lap (and smirking when you gasped a bit, obviously noticing the bulge in his jeans).
âI hope you like it,â you offered weakly as you set his plate in front of him.
âIâm sure you do,â he grinned, picking up his fork. âYou wonât like whatâs gonna happen if I donât.â
You just stood beside him for a moment as he took the first bite, smiling weakly when he hummed in content at the taste. âArenât ya gonna eat?â he asked, looking you up and down.
âIâm not hungry,â you explained quickly.
âSuit yourself,â he shrugged, âitâs good. Youâre quite the little chef, arenât ya?â
âUm, I supposeâŠâ you deflected awkwardly.
âLearn to take a compliment,â he hissed, âsay âthank you.ââ
âThank you,â you replied dutifully. Â
âThatâs better,â he announced firmly, shovelling the last bite of casserole into his mouth before working on the slices of ham. Your ability to follow instructions was a good sign for how tonight was going to goâ apparently for all your naivete, you still had a self-preservation instinct. He couldnât wait to exploit it.
He continued his meal in silence, delighting in the way your eyes watered and your lip quivered. âAlright, sweetie, dinnerâs over,â he announced when he was finished. âTime for dessert.â
You shivered slightly as he stood up and approached you. âYou want gingerbread?â you asked innocently. He frowned and shook his head, watching you start to cry again as he roughly grabbed your arm and pulled you closer. Â
âI had something even sweeter in mind,â he informed you with a low growl, taking a big whiff of your scentâ that same shampoo smell he was used to by now, mixed in with the new perfume youâd gotten a few weeks ago along with the warm, spicy smells of Christmas. âBeen waitinâ so long for this,â he groaned lowly as he leaned down to stare right into your fear-widened eyes.
âN-no, please,â you whimpered, weakly attempting to twist out of his grip, âyou wouldnâtââ
âI would,â he disagreed as he turned his gun backwards, whipping you across the head with the handle. He caught you before you collapsed, and hoped you wouldnât be hurting too much when you woke up. But he would deal with that then. Right now, he had a present to wrap.
//
There was a radiating ache in your skull. You felt that first as you groggily opened your eyes. The next thing you noticed was that you werenât in your bed. Looking around, you couldnât see well because the only light was from your Christmas tree, but you could see that you were naked and bound with ropes. Oddly enough, on top of the ropes was thick red ribbon, gathered in a big bow right at your chest.
What the fuck is going on? you were about to ask yourself, but then it all became clear.
The shadows shifted, and your neighbor emerged from them. You struggled against the ropes as you remembered everything, realizing what was happening. Of course you had always thought he was a bit creepy (who didnât?) but you were nice to him and he was nice to you. How could you have known he was this disturbed? Â
âThatâs my favorite part,â he purred as he stooped down to be eye-level with you. âThe moment when they realize whatâs going to happen. You were so peaceful just a moment ago, knocked out and without a care in the world, and now youâre fighting for your life.â
You whimpered into the gag as he smiled at you, running his hands over your skin.
âI mean, not fighting very well, but fighting.â
You tried to kick him as he stepped closer but the ropes made it impossible.
âI think itâs time to open my present, hm?â he grinned. You shook your head but he ignored you, slowly pushing your legs apart and growling a little when he saw your exposed pussy, ripe for the taking. âLook at that, youâre wet,â he laughed. You wrenched your eyes shut, refusing to believe this was happening. âDonât be embarrassed, that happens a lot. Although Iâll admit, I donât think any of them were ever this wet beforeâŠâ
You jumped when his thumb started to rub your clit, the pressure much too intense and unexpected. He laughed at your struggle, and you could feel your walls throbbing in response to the stimulation.
âI know I didnât need to do all this to get you in bed,â he continued his taunting rant. âI know you wanted me alreadyâ donât think I didnât notice you makinâ googly eyes at me like a dumb little schoolgirl. If Iâdâve asked you out, I couldâve had you under me after a few drinks⊠but itâs better this way. You probably wouldâve made me wear a condom, wouldâve made me be all gentle with ya, some wholesome missionary shit,â he laughed. âI donât have time for that crap. Itâs so much better with your body at my disposal, and you cryinâ those pretty tears.â
The shocks that shot up your spine from the way he was touching you made you feel like your body was betraying you. How could this actually feel good? How was it that the fear burning in your gut was actually adding to your pleasure and not nullifying it?
âFeels good, doesnât it?â he groaned as if he were reading your mind. âI know you love it, little girl, donât act so innocent. I know youâre not the good girl everybody thinks you are. Youâve been naughty this year, havenât you?â
Even though logic told you not to play into his twisted game, you felt compelled to shake your head âno.â
âDonât lie,â he warned, âIâve seen you. Iâve watched you play with this pretty pussy every fucking night.â
You couldnât watch this any more, you couldnât look at him while he did this to you. Forcing your eyes shut, you tried to find a place in your mind to run away to. Instead, he slapped you right on your clit and your eyes shot open as you whined.
âKeep looking,â he instructed. âI want you to see it. I want you to know that itâs me. I want you to see what Iâm about to put in you.â
He stepped back and hastily discarded his shirt, making quick work of his boots and trousers, too. Then it was just his boxers, and you could see the outline of his erection already. You hoped it wasnât as big as it looked, but then he grinned as he pulled the fabric down and yep, it wasâ you tried to squirm away, uselessly.
âAw, donât be scared, baby,â he pouted, âI know itâs big, but with how wet you are I bet itâll fit like a glove. A really, really tight gloveâŠâ
He leaned down and pressed his lips right against your ear, rubbing his swollen head through your slick folds as you whined. Â
âGloves can tear,â he chuckled. âGloves can rip.â
Tears stained the ribbon of your gag as you tried to beg him not to, but it was too lateâ he was pushing forward and spearing you onto him.
âFuck!â he groaned as he pushed all the way to the hilt, and your eyes rolled back as the stinging, burning pain shot up your spine. âSo fuckinâ tight, fuck, canât believe I waited this long to get my hands on you.â
He pulled the gag down, smiling at you tenderly when you coughed out a cry of pain. âPlease,â you sobbed, âplease stopâŠâ
âNo no, babygirl, Iâm not gonna stop. I wanna fill this slutty little cunt with my come.â
Renewed sobs shook your chest as your nails dug into your own palms, each thrust somehow going even deeper than the last, somehow hurting even more.
âWant my come, pretty girl?â he pressed, refusing to let you ignore him. âWant me to shoot my load into this sweet pussy aâyours?â
âNo,â you sobbed weakly, shaking your head, âno, noâŠâ you trailed off, chanting it like a mantra as you felt like you might pass out.
âAw, youâre not on the pill, are you?â he realized with a toothy grin. âNever saw any empty packs in your trash. Are you worried Iâll knock you up?â
âPlease, please donât,â you shivered. There was nothing quite as demeaning as having no recourse but to beg even when you knew it would do nothing. The only thing that came close was the knowledge that your orgasm wasnât so far offâ his cock was slamming right into your spot with every movement, his hips rubbing your swollen clit, and it was impossible to avoid the pleasure that was making your walls tighten around him.
âHow could I not?â he countered. âFuck, you feel so good, how could I not breed this dripping, desperate cunt, hm? Thereâs no way Iâm pulling out now when youâre squeezinâ my dick so good like this.â
âPlease,â you repeated, so quiet you couldnât be sure he heard it at all. You could hardly breathe with his weight on your chest, black static dancing at the edges of your peripheral vision.
âIâll be honestâ I hate kids,â he growled, ânever wanted âem, but it does sound like a lot of fun to get you pregnant. Would you like that, pretty baby? Beinâ full of my kid? Iâd be so nice to watch you get big and know it was all my fault. Think of it like a Christmas gift, from one neighbor to another.â
âRobert, please!â you cried, although it sounded a lot like you were begging him for more as opposed to begging him for mercy. You werenât sure how that happened, except that you could feel the coil in your gut tightening and tightening and tightening until it finally fucking snapped and you choked on nothing, your walls fluttering as a gush of wetness seeped out between your bodies.
âThatâs it,â he groaned, âfuck, what a nasty little skank you are, Jesus⊠coming so hard from being tied up and abused by your neighbor, who knew you were a total freak?â
You couldnât say anything, you couldnât even think as hazy pleasure flooded your brain and you went limp in his oppressive grasp. Exhaustedly, you slumped down and let him use youâ all you could do now was hope he would finish soon.
âI mean, I knew,â he laughed, âbut damn⊠youâre somethinâ else.â
He said it with pride in his voice, as your entire body burned with shame. How had you already given in so quickly, accepted your fate and come harder than you ever had before? It sort of made sense that this would be more intense than what you got from getting yourself off at night (and the thought that heâd been watching you made your stomach churn), but why was this so much better than the sweet, loving sex youâd had with your boyfriend way back when, before heâd run out on you? Why was Robert, as disturbed as he was, the best youâd ever had?
âGod, youâre so wet, I can fucking smell you,â he grunted through his teeth. âYou made such a pretty mess on my cock, babygirl.â
You could hear that he was right, you could feel the wetness that had dripped down to cover both of youâ the wet slapping of his balls against your ass was disgusting, yet arousing, and you hated yourself for it.
âShit, Iâm close,â he moaned, âfuck yeah, just like that.â
You werenât sure what he was referring to until you realized you were arching your back, forcing his cock to hit your overstimulated spot directly. It made jolts of electricity course through your veins, pleasure sizzling just beneath your skin. Â
âKiss me,â he instructed, and you were too far gone to disobey as you turned and captured his lips in a kiss, instantly accepting his tongue into your mouth. It was sloppy and forceful and kinda gross and he tasted like Christmas dinner and cigarettes, but it made your walls tighten around him again anyways. Something about his beard against your face made you moan a little, the sound lost into his mouth but unfortunately not unnoticed. âFuck, I know you love my cock so much,â he purred, pulling back only as much as he needed to to speakâ he was so close that his lips brushed yours with every word, those dark eyes staring right into yours until you felt entirely helpless to his gaze.
âPlease,â you whimpered, not even sure what you were asking for.
âBest pussy Iâve ever had, you know that?â he praised, grinning as you bit down on your lip. âYeah, you love being my good girl, you love pleasinâ me, donâtcha?â
âIâ I donâtââ
âJust nod your head, dumb baby,â he grunted coldly. After a moment of hesitation, you nodded ever so slightly and he moaned above you.
âFuckâ gonna come,â he informed you breathlessly, âgonna fill up your wet fuckinâ hole, âm so close, ah fuckââ
The first pump of his cock painted your insides and you cringed as you tried not to moan at the feeling. His come was hot and thick as it filled you, the faltering thrusts of his hips making your swollen walls flutter weakly. It felt like it would go on foreverâ his weak groans in your ear, his thick cock pulsing inside you, your breathing quick and fast until it felt like you werenât getting any air in your lungs at all. It stopped, finally, as he sighed and relaxed a little bit.
âGoddamn,â he breathed as he pulled out of you, making you both wince. Already you felt soreness radiating from your opening, and your face burned as he looked down between your legs. âLook at that, what a perfect little pussy I just ruined. Itâs all stretched out and red and covered in my come,â he announced proudly. âThereâs a little blood, too, but youâll be better in no time,â he assured with a smirk. âRed and whiteâ itâs sort of festive, donât you think?â
You swallowed down the acid threatening to come up your throatâ of course he was disturbed, but did he have to be so disgusting?
Again, it was like he read your mind as he grabbed your jaw and forced you to open your mouth, spitting onto your tongue before commanding you to swallow it. Just when you thought youâd reached the limits of his depravity, he found some new way to up the ante. What worried you most, though, was the fact that heâd already come and hadnât left yet. Deep down, you knew it wasnât over yet, but you hadnât accepted it consciously.
âSuch a good slut for me,â he praised through his teeth, âI bet I can go again, fuck, you turn me on so much.â Pulling back a bit and gripping his cock at the base, you squirmed a little as you looked at it. âYou see this? Iâm still hard. You make me feel like a fuckinâ teenager again, I swear.â
âI canâtâŠâ you sighed weakly, your voice sounding all cracked and whiny as it moved through your sore throat. âI canât take it againâŠâ
âDonât worry,â he soothed, âIâm gonna give your poor cunt a break⊠so I can rape this cute little ass.â
âNo!â you yelped. âPlease! Not there!â
He slapped you quickly before maneuvering two fingers to your other hole, teasing it as he laughed at your pre-emptive wince.
âItâs not gonna be so bad, baby, Iâm gonna get you ready for it first, see? I bet youâll love it, nasty little thing like you.â
The first finger slipped in with a little pop as the tight ring of muscle shifted to accommodate him. Youâd never had anything go up that way before, and it was nothing like you couldâve imagined. Hissing in a breath through your teeth, you whimpered as he added a second finger already.
âJust relax,â he instructed. âNot that I donât love you gripping my fingers with your tight little hole, but itâll hurt less if you just let it happen.â
You willed your muscles not to tighten even as he twisted his fingers inside you, moving slowly until he was buried all the way to the knuckle and then finally pulling back. The third was a bit more of a challenge as he opened you wider, your fists clenching at the sting of pain. He let his come drip down from your pussy to use as lube, which was undoubtedly the filthiest thing youâd ever experienced. You tried to keep quiet and relax as he told you to, but your fight was renewed slightly as he pulled his fingers out and lined up his cock with your hole. Â
âPlease,â you shivered, âdonât do thisâŠâ
âWhen are you gonna stop fucking fighting it, huh? How stupid are you? Youâre tied up on the floor, I already made this pussy mine and you fucking loved it, how much more obvious could it be that Iâm gonna do this? Youâre fucked. Itâs over. Just accept it and Iâll make it good for you.â
âThis canât be good for me,â you hissed through your teeth.
âWell, in that case,â he groaned, interrupting himself as he roughly shoved his cock into your ass. The air was punched from your lungs as pain burned white-hot through your bodyâ it didnât feel like his fingers had done much to prepare you at all, with the way this hurt. As soon as you had the oxygen needed to do so, you were crying again, loud sobs echoing around your dark, empty living room. âI was gonna be gentle,â he taunted you darkly, âbut you had to run that mouth of yours.â
You tried to choke out an apology, but it was useless as he shoved his fingers into your mouth.Â
âSuck on âem, show me what your mouth is good for,â he demanded as you closed your lips and swirled your tongue around his fingers. âFuck, thatâs better. See how good it is when you know your place?â
You couldnât really process his words, though, as you spent all your energy on trying not to think about how his cock felt in your ass. It was like being full in a completely different way than before, like being opened wider than you knew was possible. He pulled his fingers from your mouth and you hated the moan that spilled out after them.
âYour cunt is getting wet,â he sing-songed mockingly as he leaned back and looked down at it. âYou love it up the ass, huh? Dirty bitch.â
You shook your head in denial (even though you could feel that he was right, at least about the first part), but he grabbed your jaw and forced you to look at him.
âSay it,â he grunted. âAdmit it, slut. Admit you love getting fucked up the ass.â
âIâŠâ you whimpered, barely able to get the words out even though you knew you needed to if you wanted to prevent him from hurting you worse. âI love⊠getting fuckedââ you stopped to swallow the lump in your throatâ âup the ass.â
He backhanded you, hard, right across the face. You cried and gasped all at once, choking on air from the force of the hit. âWHORE!â he yelled right in your face.
You sobbed uncontrollably as he fucked you with more brutality than youâd known was possible. âPlease,â you tried to beg, even if you knew it was useless, but it was totally incomprehensible as you shook with the force of your cries, hissing in breaths through your teeth to try to cope with the pain.
âThought it would take me a while to come again, but your ass feels so goddamn goodâ fuck, Iâm close already. Want me to fill up that tight little ass?â
You shook your head as you sobbed, shaking violently against the confines of the ropes. Distantly, you heard the chimes of your clock in the other room.
âYou hear that?â he whispered. âThat means itâs midnightâ itâs Christmas.â
He leaned in until his hot breath tickled your ear and neck, making you wish you could turn your head away more than just a few centimeters.
âMerry fucking Christmas,â he purred, just as you felt his cock swell and pulse inside you. Your eyes rolled back as you wondered if youâd ever been so full before.
It was a haze after that as he gently untied you, getting his gun out again and keeping it trained on you as he followed you to the bathroom and forced you to shower. Force was a bit of an overstatement, though, considering your desire to clean him off of you as much as possible. âIâm not gonna tell anyone, Robert,â you tried to calm him down as you shivered under the stream of water that hadnât quite warmed up yet.
âYeah, well, just in case,â he insisted as he waved the gun pointed in your direction. âWash between your legs real good, push my come out.â
âNot gonna matter if you knocked me up like you said,â you reminded him. âA paternity test will be evidence enough.â
âShut up,â he grimaced. âCanât prove you didnât want it, anyway. We both know you did.â
You didnât respond to that, opting to shower silently instead and wincing every time you tried to clean between your legs. You were going to be sore for days, if not weeks.
âWe both know Iâm gonna be back for more real soon,â he added darkly. âToo good for just one night.âÂ

What the fuck are the Trials
Since the show is based on the books and not the games, and more people are more familiar with the games that the books, I thought it might be helpful to sort of officialize the posts Iâve done about specific topics in the books.Â
Here are the previous posts on Triss&Geralt as well as Coën
TLDR: So looking at this process, according to the books the way a Witcher becomes, well a Witcher looks like this:
There is the Choice which is the decision to become a Witcher made when you are a child
Eat a lot of magic mushrooms that give you the strength and ability Witchers are known for
Then the Trial of the Grasses which is a concoction of mutagenic elixirs injected into the bloodstream which mutates you into a Witcher
Then finally there are the Changes. This is a big step and one that requires a mage. This is when the hormones are changed and a Witcher becomes permanently sterile
then there is training until you earn your medallion and BOOM, out onto the path with you
Now, have a post about what the trials are as far as the books are concerned
Itâs important to note that in the books, The Witcher are a dying breed so the Trials are really only mentioned in Blood of Elves when Ciri trains with the Witchers and the two prequels, Sword of Destiny and The Last Wish.Â
Letâs start out with the basics of the Trials, here is a passage from Blood of Elves where Triss is wondering why the Witchers at Kaer Morhen are being so secretive in regards to Ciri:
âItâs obvious. They want to mutate the child, subject her to the Trial of Grasses and Changes, but they donât know how to do it. Vesemir was the only witcher left from the previous generation, and he was only a fencing instructor. The Laboratorium, hidden in the vaults of Kaer Morhen, with its dusty demi-johns of elixirs, the alembics, ovens and retortsâŠÂ
None of the witchers knew how to use them. The mutagenic elixirs had been concocted by some renegade wizard in the distant past and then perfected over the years by the wizardâs successors, who had, over the years, magically controlled the process of Changes to which children were subjected. And at a vital moment the chain had snapped.Â
There was no more magical knowledge or power. The witchers had the herbs and Grasses, they had the Laboratorium. They knew the recipe. But they had no wizard.â
Later:
âAnd now they want to mutate the girl but canât. And that might mean⊠They may ask me to help. And then Iâll see something no living wizard has seen, Iâll learn something no living wizard has learned. Their famous Grasses and herbs, the secret virus cultures, the renowned, mysterious recipesâŠâ
Now, what Triss doesnât realize is that Geralt and the others are not planning on subjecting Ciri to the trials at all but are instead trying to hide Ciriâs magical ability from Triss. They are worried she will report them to the Chapter.Â
Of course, until they tell Triss this, she is deeply suspicious and goes on to talk about the mushrooms Witchers have access to which are extremely unique.Â
âOf course, thought Triss. Theyâre feeding her those legendary cave saprophytes â a mountain plant unknown to science â giving her the famous infusions of their mysterious herbs to drink. The girl is developing quickly, is acquiring a witcherâs infernal fitness. Naturally, without the mutation, without the risk, without the hormonal upheaval. But the magician must not know this. It is to be kept a secret from the magician. They arenât going to tell me anything; they arenât going to show me anything.â
Later:
âI donât give a fig for your trust, witchers. Thereâs cancer out there in the world, smallpox, tetanus and leukaemia, there are allergies, thereâs cot death. And youâre keeping your âmushroomsâ, which could perhaps be distilled and turned into life-saving medicines, hidden away from the world. Youâre keeping them a secret even from me, and others to whom you declare your friendship, respect and trust. Even Iâm forbidden to see not just the Laboratorium, but even the bloody mushrooms!â
Triss as a mage has extreme bias against the Trials and for good reason! Most of the populace doesnât have access to any information on the Trials outside of vague ideas but Mages have access to first hand accounts such as this from Blood of Elves:Â
âOn the third day all the children died save one, a male barely ten. Hitherto agitated by a sudden madness, he fell all at once into deep stupor. His eyes took on a glassy gaze; incessantly with his hands did he clutch at clothing, or brandish them in the air as if desirous of catching a quill. His breathing grew loud and hoarse; sweat cold, clammy and malodorous appeared on his skin. Then was he once more given elixir through the vein and the seizure it did return. This time a nose-bleed did ensue, coughing turned to vomiting, after which the male weakened entirely and became inert.
For two days more did symptoms not subside. The childâs skin, hitherto drenched in sweat, grew dry and hot, the pulse ceased to be full and firm â albeit remaining of average strength, slow rather than fast. No more did he wake, nor did he scream.
Finally, came the seventh day. The male awoke and opened his eyes, and his eyes were as those of a viperâŠâ
~Carla Demetia Crest, The Trial of Grasses and other secret Witcher practices, seen with my own eyes, manuscript exclusively accessible to the Chapter of Wizards
When most people think of the Trials, they are thinking similarly to Queen Calanthe in Sword of Destiny.Â
Here is what Calanthe says to Geralt when talking about what he might do with his child surprise:Â
âYou are astonished,â she stated. âWell, Iâve studied a little. Since Pavettaâs child has the chance of becoming a witcher, I went to great pains. My sources, Geralt, reveal nothing, however, regarding how many children in ten withstand the Trial of the Grasses. Would you like to satisfy my curiosity in this regard?â
âO Queen,â Geralt said, clearing his throat. âYou certainly went to sufficient pains in your studies to know that the code and my oath forbid me from even uttering that name, much less discussing it.â
Calanthe stopped the swing abruptly by jabbing a heel into the ground. âThree, at most four in ten,â she said, nodding her head in feigned pensiveness.Â
âA stringent selection, very stringent, Iâd say, and at every stage. First the Choice and then the Trials. And then the Changes. How many youngsters ultimately receive medallions and silver swords? One in ten? One in twenty?â
Later Calanthe asks Geralt:
âDo you believe a Child of Destiny would pass through the Trials without danger?â
âWe believe such a child would not require the Trials.â
âOne question, Geralt. Quite a personal one. May I?â
He nodded.
âThere is no better way to pass on hereditary traits than the natural way, as we know. You went through the Trials and survived. So if you need a child with special qualities and endurance⊠Why donât you find a woman who⊠Iâm tactless, arenât I? But I think Iâve guessed, havenât I?â
âAs usual,â he said, smiling sadly, âyou are correct in your deductions, Calanthe. You guessed right, of course. What youâre suggesting is impossible for me.â
âForgive me,â she said, and the smile vanished from her face. âOh, well, itâs a human thing.â
âIt isnât human.â
âAh⊠So, no witcher canââ
âNo, none. The Trial of the Grasses, Calanthe, is dreadful. And what is done to boys during the time of the Changes is even worse. And irreversible.â
Later:
âThe risks are too great,â Geralt said quickly. âAs you said. At most, four out of ten survive.â
âDammit, is only the Trial of the Grasses hazardous? Do only potential witchers take risks? Life is full of hazards, selection also occurs in life, Geralt. Misfortune, sicknesses and wars also select. Defying destiny may be just as hazardous as succumbing to it. Geralt⊠I would give you the child. But⊠Iâm afraid, too.â
Then in The Last Wish, Geralt describes his own experiences with The Trials:
âKaer MorhenâŠThat's where the likes of me were produced. It's not done anymore; no one lives in Kaer Morhen now. No one but Vesemir. Who's Vesemir? My father. Why are you so surprised? What's so strange about it? Everyone's got a father, and mine is Vesemir. And so what if he's not my real father? I didn't know him, or my mother. I don't even know if they're still alive, and I don't much care.
âYes, Kaer Morhen. I underwent the usual mutation there, through the Trial of Grasses, and then hormones, herbs, viral infections. And then through them all again. And again, to the bitter end. Apparently, I took the changes unusually well; I was only ill briefly. I was considered to be an exceptionally resilient bratâŠand was chosen for more complicated experiments as a result. They were worse. Much worse. But, as you see, I survived. The only one to live out of all those chosen for further trials. My hair's been white ever since. Total loss of pigmentation. A side effect, as they say. A trifle.
âThen they taught me various things until the day when I left Kaer Morhen and took to the road. Iâd earned my medallion, the Sign of the Wolf's School. I had two swords: silver and iron, and my conviction, enthusiasm, incentive andâŠfaith. Faith that I was needed in a world full of monsters and beasts, to protect the innocent. As I left Kaer Morhen, I dreamed of meeting my first monster. I couldn't wait to stand eye to eye with him. And the moment arrived.â
So looking at this process, according to the books the way a Witcher becomes, well a Witcher looks like this:
There is the Choice which is the decision to become a Witcher made when you are a child
Eat a lot of magic mushrooms that give you the strength and ability Witchers are known forÂ
Then the Trial of the Grasses which is a concoction of mutagenic elixirs injected into the bloodstream which mutates you into a WitcherÂ
Then finally there are the Changes. This is a big step and one that requires a mage. This is when the hormones are changed and a Witcher becomes permanently sterile
then there is training until you earn your medallion and BOOM, out onto the path with you
This is why itâs such a big deal that Triss was brought to Kaer Morhen. Without a mage, someone cannot become a full Witcher and Triss believed that was why she was there. Of course, this wasnât true but itâs a valid concern to have.Â
One thing I want to note, there is absolutely NOTHING in the text that says that being a Witcher is limited to any sort of gender boundary. The fact that Triss so readily jumped to Ciri becoming a Witcher and the fact that Geralt didnât specify  boys until he was talking about the sterilization process...well, there is a likelihood female Witchers actually existed.Â
Again, in the books Witchers are a dying breed and you can literally count on one hand the number of Witchers we meet. Of course, considering mages are the ones who made Witchers, it makes sense that female Witchers are either strongly discouraged, banned or simply not talked about.Â
One big point Triss has against Ciriâs training is that she wonât âdevelopâ correctly like a woman âshouldâ due to the mushrooms and harsh training and considering how so many northern mages place importance on beauty I could definitely see mages not wanting to have female Witchers, considering it a âperversionâ.Â
Just a fun thought I often have about the books that I havenât seen anyone point out.Â
So overall, here is what the books have to say about the Trials, itâs a touch different from the games but I find this very fascinating and interesting. Let me know if you want me to do a specific topic or relationship next, but for now, thanks for reading!

OHMYGODDD JUST SAW YOUR LATEST POST I LOVE IT ANGST WITH A HAPPY ENDING IS JUST CHEF'S KISS. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE 42, 49 and 13 FOR NALU PLEASEEE CAN'T WAIT TO READ ITT
đł Yaâll really love angst huh? Lol okay, sure letâs see what I can come up with. đ âYou canât keep pretending it didnât happen, cause guess what? It did!â + âIâm pregnantâ + âIm too sober for thisâ
Lucyâs knees weakened and sent her crumbling to the bathroom floor. Why was this happening to her?! Sheâd just finished college and was about to start her paid internship with a local newspaper. âWhat am I gonna do?â Lucy gripped to the stick in her hand as the tears trickled down her face. This could derail her future before it even startedâ all because of one slip-up. How was she going to tell Natsu⊠Not knowing who else to talk to, Lucy turned to her best friend Levy McGarden. She texted the woman and drove over to her friends apartment in dread.
âOh, LuâŠâ Levy hugged her friend tightly before pulling her into the small apartment. She sat Lucy down on the couch, then made them both some tea. âHow you feeling?â Levy asked as she handed the cup over.
âHow do you think Iâm feeling?!â Lucy groaned. âI feel like Iâm in a nightmare.â
âAre you sure the results are correct? You know those home pregnancy tests can be wrong.â
âI donât know, I mean I followed the instructions and it didnât give an error sign.â Lucy pulled the stick from her pocket. âSee?â She showed it to her friend. âTwo lines.â
âOhâ yeah, looks like it,â Levy agreed.
Lucy pocketed the test once again and hung her head. Both hands cradled the warm cup, just holding it without a desire to drink from it. âJust thinking about this is making me sick. Maybe I can just pretend itâs not true.â
âLu, thatâs ridiculous. Iâm pretty sure the growing bump on your stomach will make that difficult.â
âUgh! I know!â Lucy shrieked. âLie to me or something⊠Levy, I-I donât think I can deal with this!â
âWell, you have to. And how am I supposed to lie about this?!â
âI donât know, tell me this is a dream. Just a bad dream that Iâm gonna wake up from. The test was wrong, something! Maybe itâs just a fiction story Iâm working on cause I just donât wanna think about it right now.â
âIâm sorry, but you canât keep pretending it didnât happen, cause guess what? It did! Lucy you have to face reality.â
âWhat am I gonna do Levy? I canât be having a baby!â
âWell first things first, you need to tell Natsuâ Iâm assuming itâs Natsu.â
âOf course, itâs Natsu! I havenât slept with anyone else.â
âWell you need to tell him. He deserves to know.â
âI knowâŠâ
âNatsuâs a stand up guy, I know heâs going to do the right thing.â
Lucy sighed, âthatâs not what I worry about. I mean having kids is something thatâs crossed my mind⊠just not anytime soon. Weâre not even married yet. Ugh! Iâm such an idiot.â
âSometimes these things happen.â Levy placed her hand on her friendâs shoulder. âCanât go back to the past, so now all you can do is figure out the now. Do you have any idea when it happened?â
âMy guess is my graduation party, cause that was the last time we had sex. I barely even remember it cause I was so drunk,â Lucy whimpered, then started to sob. âWeâre usually careful but⊠yeah, it had to be that.â
âCome here,â Levy pulled her friend into a hug. âYouâre gonna be okay. Whatever happens, youâre gonna be okay.â
The women spent a couple more hours chatting, flipping between random topics, but often coming back to this one. Lucy struggled to even wrap her mind around the reality that this is real. That she was going to have a child, when she was barely an adult herself and all the factors involved only compounded her dilemma. Her new job isnât going to afford a child. Natsu had a decent job, but even combined it would be a struggle. Theyâd have to find a place together, a two bedroom house or apartment. What about the medical expenses, and the baby suppliesâ babies are expensive! Where was the money going to come from?
When Lucy noticed the time and realized Natsu would be coming home from work within the hour, she thanked her friend for the support and bid her goodbye. Even though she had calmed down a little, she wasnât ready, didnât know what or how she was going to break the news to him. So, after arriving home, Lucy tried to distract herself by cooking dinner. It didnât really work, but at least a meal was made. Her life until now had been going well in that she had a boyfriend who treated her right, supported her while she finished her degree, even pushed her to follow her dreams of writing. And now that her degree was finished, Lucy was on her way after landing the paid internship. If she passed the internship, they would offer her a permanent position at the newspaper.
But now all of that felt like it was slipping through her fingers. All her hard work for nothing because juggling a small child and going to work⊠Maternity leave is not paid, so theyâll have to rely on just one income for a time, then daycare is quite expensive. Sure, there are programs that she could apply for to help or family, but thatâs not the pointâ the point is, they are sorely not ready to become parents.
âIâm home!â Natsu called out as he entered the apartment. âSomething smells good!â
âWelcome home, Natsu.â Lucy called out from the kitchen. âItâs almost done.â
Natsu detected a change in his girlfriendâs tone. Usually when he gets home, sheâs in a happier moodâ but not today. He threw his keys onto the kitchen island and walked up, giving her a kiss on the cheek. âEverything okay?â
Whatever words sheâd planned to say were thrown out the window as tears pooled instantly in Lucyâs eyes. âNatsu, itâsâŠâthe words stumbled out, âum⊠I-Iâm pregnant.â
âP-PregâŠnant?!â Natsu took a step back in shock, his trembling hand moving to cover his mouth. âOh, wowâ Iâm too sober for this,â he mumbled.
âPregnant,â she repeated as the sobs broke free. âAnd alcohol is what got us into this mess!â Lucy snapped and sobbed louder.
âOh, h-hey now, Iâm sorry, I shouldnât have said that,â Natsu pulled her into his arms. âDonât cry baby, please donât cry, I hate seeing you cry.â
âNatsu, Iâm pregnant, did you hear me?! Pregnant! I canât be pregnant!â
âShh⊠I hear you,â he gently coaxed Lucy to the couch and had her sit down, then sat beside her, cradling her close. âTrue, itâs not the best time⊠but we can make it work.â
âYou donât understand, Iâm not ready, Natsu. I donât think I could handle itâŠâ all the reasons refreshing in her mind. âI have no experience with with kids. What if we screw up? Itâs justâŠâ Lucy sighed. âI think⊠Iâm too overwhelmed right now.â
âOkay, wellâ they make those things now, the, um, end pregnancy stuff.â
âI donât knowâŠâ
âLucy, Iâll support whatever decision you make.â
âYou say that now, but later youâll probably resent me for⊠kilâ doing that,â she mumbled.
âI donât know that so neither can you. All I do know is that yes it might hurtâ but youâre the important thing right now, and if you say youâre not ready, then I have to accept it. Kids are never easy, I doubt all the preparation in the world can really make a difference. But Lucy,â he took her hand and held it to his chest. âAs long as Iâve known you, whatever you choose to do youâre great at it.â
âReally?â She looked up with hope filling her eyes for the first time all day.
Natsu smiled. âAnd who better to start a family with?â He cupped her cheeks and kissed her. âThen a smart, sassy, beautiful woman like you.â
Lucyâs eyes flooded with tears. âYou really think we can make it work?â
He nodded. âAs long as itâs something we really want, then yeah.â
After a momentary pause, Lucy let out a long stabilizing exhale. âOkay. Iâll call my doctor and make an appointment tomorrow to check.â
âReally? Y-You sure? Because I donât want you to feel like Iâm trying to coax you into this.â
âNo, I-Iâm prettyâ sure. Things sometimes happen for a reason, right? Maybe itâs meant to be.â
Natsu pulled her in for another longer kiss. âGuess I better hurry up and marry you then,â he chuckled.
She snorted a laugh. âI guess so mister!â
He pulled her close again, hugging her to his chest. âI love you so much baby.â
âMmm, I love you too.â
âMy own baby momma,â he teased.
Lucy slapped his chest with a giggling shriek. âDonât you dare call me that!â
âOh,â he grinned, âIâm totally getting t-shirts made.â
